SPRINGFIELD — The truck screeched out of Steve Head's Bluebird Drive driveway and slammed on the brakes a few yards away in front of F.S. Jones' house. The driver was frantic.

''He said, 'Call 911, Mr. Head has been shot in the head!' '' said Jones, who had been standing at her glass door.

''I didn't see anything, I didn't hear anything,'' said an amazed Jones, who didn't recognize the driver.

In the next three hours, three more Springfield businessmen would be shot — leaving three dead and a fourth clinging to life after one of the worst series of crimes in the area.

2. Remember the Watergate buglary...
...one of these days a story will break that has no relevancy to anything at first, but then if some gutsy reporters smell a story, well watch out.:nuke:

3. A good time to jump on gun control for TN?
Would it be wrong to play this up as a gun control issue? Remember TN in 2000 was a big gun issue state. Is it time to stigmatize guns there and neutralize the issue for presidential politics?

5. Gun control is dead forever, may it RIP.
Al Gore couldn't even carry Tennessee because of it.

If anything, proponents of national gun control should ease off, because what legislation that HAS been passed, can be repealed.

That is the most likely outcome of beating this dead horse...and we will lose still more elections!

Enough with the gun control!

6. A business deal gone south?
Edited on Sat Mar-06-04 08:51 PM by rocknation
The shooting victims were:

• ...co-owner of Springfield Golf Club...

• ...car dealer and repair shop owner...

• ...a traveling pipe fitter and rental property owner...

• ...owner of Lam's Auto Sales...

I seriously doubt this is a serial or spree killing. Like Andrew Cunanan's victims, these people were targeted for a specific reason. Maybe they were involved in some kind of (real estate?) business with the killer that unraveled.
