Airline dispute leaves NHL, NBA travel in the air
Source: The Associated Press

Air Canada says the U.S. insistence that the carrier cancel all its season-long sports charter flights would wreak havoc on the coming professional hockey and basketball seasons.

Teams could have difficulty playing back-to-back games in the U.S. if they are forced to return to their home country between each game.

"The urgency of this matter cannot be minimized," Air Canada said in court papers.

The NHL's regular season starts Oct. 1. The NBA regular season starts in late October.

3. Sounds like a complicated issue
Ther're flying point to point charter service within the US without being licensed to do so. Air Canada is calling it "stopovers". Kinda sounds like US govt might have a legitimate case.
