Dems drafting reprimand for Wilson
Source: MSNBC

From NBC's Kelly O'Donnell
Following GOP Rep. Joe Wilson's insistence that he won't apologize on the House floor a "resolution of disapproval" is being drafted now, and the earliest it would be introduced is tomorrow, according to House leadership aide.

The aide says: "The issue at hand is one of conduct, not speech. Congressman Wilson's outburst during the joint session was a breach of decorum and brought discredit to the House. It is common for members to address such breaches themselves rather than force action by the full House. Failure to respond would mean consent for that kind of conduct. In the absence of an apology, the House must act to admonish his behavior. These are the standards members are held to when they take the oath of office."

1. GOOD! These pissants only know force...
Hold their feet to the fire: bullies will back down when they face formidable opposition.

Let them know in no uncertain terms that Addy's behaior will not be tolerated!

Cheney's ticker battery will have expired by them and Blue Cross will have denied him coverage for a new one.

3. Make him write an essay on how much more we should pay to deny care.
Since it will cost more money to deny care to undocumenteds, not less, more, let him write an essay on how he wants us to spend more money in order to hire people that will keep undocumenteds from receiving health care.

The gist of the so-called "lie" is that HR3200 does not include funding for stopping the undocumented from getting any health care once we pay for it with our tax dollars.

How much extra should we pay in order to fund the denial he so wants so badly?

4. Curious to see whether Republicans will accept this.
Or will they stand behind their man right or wrong... This should be telling.

26. I think a reading of the written rules of decorum would be in order
If Republicans do not wish to adhere to written rules of conduct then let them say so publicly.

anything.

6. This is a ridiculous waste of time and focus. PLEASE, just get a
really citizen friendly health care bill passed with single payer or public option! Oh, and perhaps some of those other important legislative issues. Not even one more minute should be spent on this man or this non-issue.

17. No. The rule of law must be enforced equally. This is *not* a waste of time.
They should draft them quietly and administer quietly, however.

20. Rule of law?!?!? There's a friggin' rule of LAW that covers outbursts?
Then arrest the mofo if he's broken the law, otherwise get fuck on with business.

Note: I usually do not curse (cuss) on the nets, so that fact that I'm cursing all over this thread gives an indication of how annoyed I am that the conversation was successfully countered last Wednesday ONCE AGAIN by the Republicans. This kind of petty distraction being ridiculously escalated is just what they wanted to happen.

21. Arrest isn't what the House rules call for. The rule calls for exactly what is being drafted.

The representatives from the Republican Party have to reprimand him, in agreement with the Democratic representatives, when all they want to do is oppose anything Democratic.

I expect him to sabotage this and say it's not necessary even though Wilson is bragging in AP reports today that not only will he not apologize again, he never really meant it to begin with.

8. If both sides are bought and paid for, then these sorts of uncouth scenarios will continue.
After some point, Obama will look just as bad as Bush. Bush kept doing the same thing, expecting a different outcome each time...

Now Obama is doing the same thing and expecting, each time, they'll work with him.

Good luck.

9. on one hand I'd like to shove his nose into it, on the other, he's gonna get a woodie from it

so my sense is that they should draft an 'acceptance of apology and writ of forgivance' and read it in front of the house. ESPECIALLY if he doesn't apologize, it'll infuriate him that he didn't offer one and here they are publicly accepting it. bwwahahahahah

they say 'always forgive your enemies - NOTHING annoys them as much'

12. This MUST go through
If they don't stop the crap now, they will forever be prone to it.

When Kucinich called Bush & Cheney liars during the discussion of his Articles of Impeachment, after the uproar, he (frustratingly) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x87257">relented and had those words struck from the record. When McKinney had her run-in with the Capitol Police due to them not recognizing her, she relented and http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/06/mckinney/">formally apologized to the chamber.

Since Ass-iddson "Joe the Jerk" Graves Wilson refuses to comply, then this award for his ass-hattery needs to go into the historic record forever.

He did not apologize on the House Floor, so this is the right move.

His orginal apology also seemed insincere, saying it was because of Repuke party leaders.

18. Good
Not only is Rep. Wilson ill-mannered, he's a god damned hypocrite regarding illegal immigrants' healthcare. He and others like him are now the face of the opposition as they've gone completely off the deep end.

There are no more Eisenhower Republicans. The sooner the Obama administration realizes this, the better.
