GOP leader says he'll vote 'no' on discipling Joe Wilson for 'breaking rules'
Source: greenvilleonline

House Republican leader John Boehner said this afternoon he’ll vote ‘no’ on a resolution to discipline U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson for yelling “You lie!” at President Obama last week.

“Instead of pursuing this type of petty partisanship, we should be working together to lower costs and expand access to affordable, high-quality health coverage on behalf of the American people,” Boehner said in a statement.

House members could vote as early as Tuesday on a resolution of disapproval following Wilson’s refusal to apologize on the House floor for breaking rules of decorum.

Wilson continues to turn the controversy over his remarks into a campaign plank, issuing calls for funds and a new online video in which he said, “I will not apologize on the House floor to Nancy Pelosi, despite the threats” of discipline.

29. GOP simply has no respect for any law or order.
They are not good citizens, not good patriots, and certainly not good role models. They make laws and rules they want everyone else to follow but never want to obey them themselves. Hyocrites all!

Boner should be disciplined himself for failure to uphold the rules of the institution he serves in so ineptly.

24. Nazis broke every rule they could in their early quest for power. They even staged a military coup.
No, when the Nazis are out of power, they don't believe the rules apply to them.

14. Boehner is sure soft on the rules
but one should expect a flaccid response like this
from a man who cannot stand up for solid penal enforcement.

15. This is one of the reasons I felt that censure was a lousy idea
It makes Wilson another way for the Rethugs to flip the bird to the President and the majority in Congress. It serves to divide, rather than unite, the President knew that instinctively when he accepted Wilson's apology, no matter how lame any of the rest of us thought it was.

31. Actually, I think taking a more principled stand requires strength and tenacity
and I'm pleased to see that trait on display in our party regardless of what's on display in theirs.

There's nothing weak or stupid about taking the high road, despite its costs.

22. Oh, Jesus Christ, Boehner, SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Edited on Mon Sep-14-09 05:07 PM by ElboRuum
I'm sure the irony isn't lost on you that while you pontificate about working together and not pursuing petty partisanship, your buddy Joe Wilson (along with the rest of the wingnut brigade) are doing PRECISELY THE OPPOSITE. I see no compromise on your part, I see nothing BUT partisanship, and Joe Wilson and the rest of the heckle squad ARE a perfect example of people SO partisan, SO obstructionist, SO UNBELIEVABLY CLASSLESS that they can't even permit the sitting President the opportunity to speak without acting like COLICKY BABIES. Even GEORGE W. FUCKSTICK BUSH could count on at least THAT MUCH RESPECT from the opposition.

Soooo... Mr. Boehner, I don't know how long its going to take for your constituents to wise up and vote your crummy ass out of office, as well as every other pissypants crybaby in Washington, but until then just shut up so that we can at least have an uninterrupted delusion that you deserve to hold office. Your incessant proofs of your worthlessness via your cakehole keep waking us up.

25. Boner explain to me how the Democrats made Wilson break House rules?
1) He had a copy of the President's speech before hand so his claim that it was a spontaneous action is bogus.

2) Wilson was not the only republican who was acting like a spoiled brat that night and on Wilson's twitter account
before Obama's speech he wrote that he was going to stand up to the President.

3) Wilson continues to lie to this day about the President and how he is known for his civility.

4) Working together? Are you fucking kidding me?
