White House Calls ACORN Employees' Behavior 'Unacceptable'
Source: ABC

At today's White House briefing, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, asked by ABC News about recent government actions taken against ACORN, had a forceful response.

"Obviously the conduct you see on those tapes is completely unacceptable," Gibbs said, raising the issue of videotapes posted online by BigGovernment.com and aired frequently by Fox News Channel that seem to show ACORN employees advising a faux prostitute and faux pimp on how to skirt housing and tax laws. "The administration takes accountability extremely seriously."

Gibbs said the Census Bureau decided that ACORN could not assist the group in meeting "the bureau's goal of achieving a fair and accurate count in 2010" and that some other agencies are evaluating their relationship with the group. "We constantly evaluate to ensure that any grantee is living up to what has to happen in order to fulfill that grant application."

He pointed out that "previous administrations" had awarded grants to ACORN either through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

15. They're tied to the hip with ACORN
SEIU Local 100, ACORN affiliated organization, founder and chief organizer Wade Rathke (same guy who started ACORN).

They are almost certainly next.

3. The defense contractors should be held to similar moral standards.
But we all know what ACORN did is far worse than anything Xe or other mercenary scum do.

6. Gotta agree.
I saw the video on The Daily Show today and I was appalled by the Acorn workers. What they did was outrageous and respectfully down right stupid, and wrong to boot. It's time to clean Acorn up or pull funding.

21. The Daily Show certainly gave this story new life and a whole different audience
Fox was pimping the story for days, and only right wingers' tongues were wagging about it. Then Comedy Central took the story and ran with it, and a whole new group of people were left saying "WTF"?

7. Easy Folks. Calm Down. Take a Deep Breath
TRUE OR FALSE: Obama is lot smarter than certain kinds people give him credit for.

If true then let's not be those certain kinds of people.

The WH said the EMPLOYEE'S conduct was unacceptable. The WH didn't throw anybody under the bus except those who are tread-worthy. Obama didn't say anything about ACORN as a whole.

Investigations will be held, those responsible will be held responsible then ACORN can get back to work WITH funding streams reinstated if not expanded. Let the babies have their bottle and they will go back to sleep. We'll get a leaner, reinvigorated ACORN out of the transaction and bragging rights (when is the last time the GOP cleaned up its messes?)

Trust me.

No, wait, scratch that...trust Obama.

Oh, BTW: hi!

25. The WH statement was more vague
And wisely leaves room for clarification later.

Gibbs didn't say the EMPLOYEE's conduct was unacceptable. He said the action seen on the tape is unacceptable. That leaves them room to come back later and say he was talking about the would-be pimp and prostitute, NOT the ACORN workers.

It's always wise to speak in generalities, especially when the story is still unfolding.

8. "The administration takes accountability extremely seriously."
How Seriously? Serious enough to enforce federal law? We hear him talking. But that's all were geting from him. Talk, talk, talk and more talk. "No one is above the law" until it comes time to pursue charges. Then there is a valid case the DOJ is unwilling to pursue.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMjnoaWnDZA">Obama needs to take some political advice from this guy.

26. But that's not what Gibbs said either
"Obviously the conduct you see on those tapes is completely unacceptable,"

He doesn't say whose conduct is unacceptable. Next week they can come back and say he was talking about the film maker and his protogee.

The headline itself is misleading.
