Ahmadinejad Holocaust jibe 'totally unacceptable': Moscow
Source: AFP

MOSCOW — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's statement that the Holocaust was "a myth" is "totally unacceptable", the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement Saturday.

"Such statements, wherever they come from, contradict the truth and are totally unacceptable," ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said in the statement.

"Attempts to rewrite history, especially as the 70th anniversary of the start of World War II is being marked this year, are an offence to the memory of all victims and all those who fought fascism," he added.

Nesterenko said Ahmadinejad's comment "does not contribute to creating an international atmosphere that would foster a fruitful dialogue on issues concerning Iran."

2. It was Russia that initially discovered the camps and liberated most. So he's calling Russia a liar.

4. I have a feeling that Dinnerjacket WANTS to be attacked
so he can use it as a "justification" to launch an attack against the West and Israel. Dictators when isolated have a tendency to run away towards war to keep the power. Milosevic was the latest example.

11. He needs an external threat to reinforce his dictatorship. He's the Iranian Bush.
If he can't incite an external threat or attack. He'll have the Revolutionary Guard mount a false flag attack. Does he think he's the only one that knows world history? Of course the Druj will continue to assure him no one will ever figure out what he's up to. Bwahahahahahaha!

17. In defense of religion as a whole. Believing in God is like believing in tomorrow.
It's ever elusive. It's always a day away. You can't prove it actually exists. Sure you have somewhat logical certainties it exists. Because if tomorrow doesn't exist. Then where did today come from? As anyone who has actually been through that eternal argument of "where did that come from" with a child knows. There is only one logical conclusion to that argument. That's God. It all came from God or even Tomorrow if that's how you chose to understand him. Like I said, there are logical certainties. But you can't actually prove God or tomorrow actually exists.

As for evolution. I can understand why God would create a mind capable of understanding and believing in Evolution. But I can't understand why Evolution would create a mind capable of understanding and believing in God. What is the evolutionary benefit of that? In case you're wondering. I believe in God and Evolution. I don't find the two concepts to be mutually exclusive. In fact I find them to be entirely compatible. Science is finally beginning to prove some of the things crazy Holy men have believed and preached for millenniums.

13. You got that right. I'm amazed more DUers haven't made the connection yet... Obama canceled the
European missile defense shield, saving us massive dollars against an Iranian missile attack that will never happen, and gaining Russian cooperation against Iran. Things should be moving along nicely now. Bush and cheney were never capable of such a chess move. They were blunt instruments.

Make no mistake. Russia's scolding of Iran underscores the genius of the Obama administration's diplomatic move...and the utter stupidity of the knee-jerk GOP response.

Score one for the Good Guys!

10. If only all lying presidents (ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH ACTUAL POWER) were demonized for lying
as much as this man is demonized for his one comment that he repeats. I'm thinking here of folks like the GWBpuppetmaster, Cheney, GWB himself, Condi Rice, Tony Blair and others like them that actually started wars with their lies.

their politicians are as dupicitous as ours. they'll condemn holocaust denial, sure, but they will happily still sell weapons and nuclear technology to the Holocaust deniers.

23. Ahmadinejad says that because he is DELUSIONAL
The man is in place 1) because he can be manipulated and told what to do and 2) because they stole
the election outright. Good for the Russian Foreign Ministry. My sentiments exactly.
