Cops: Child Brings Cocaine to Day Care After Dad Tells Him It's Candy
Source: AP

NEWARK, New Jersey — New Jersey police say a 4-year-old boy shared cocaine with his friends at day care because his father told him it was candy.

Newark police say 25-year-old Shaheed Wright of East Orange put several baggies of cocaine inside his son's jacket after police nearly caught him with it. The boy shared the drugs with three other 4-year-olds at his day care center Friday.

A teacher spotted a girl with a baggie in her mouth and called authorities after seeing the white powdery substance.

The children were taken to a hospital, but none were injured. Police found more baggies of cocaine after searching the boy's pockets.

Wright was charged with four counts of child endangerment and drug offenses. He is not listed in the phone book, and police do not know if he has retained a lawyer.

Once the war on drugs is over, hopefully, dad can just sit at home doing coke and not have to plant it on his son.

5. Well - it does depend on what a person's definition of "candy" is...
Can't wait to see what he calls his cat...

8. The poor kids, thinking it was candy
Doesn't it have a bitter taste?

Once they tasted it, they would hardly want to ingest it. They were probably in more danger of choking on the plastic.

Nonetheless, that guy is truly an example of a piss-poor father.

10. Bitter Taste
I think it does, I was watching Good Eats and Alton Brown said that kids reflexively hate things that taste bitter. I think that reflex saved these kids lives.

9. Daddy's going to be gone for a while.
Maybe long enough for the kids to grow up alive.

11. Q #1: Is cocaine getting that cheap to just give it to a 4 year old?

P #1: The stuff taste like aspirin with a numbing effect depending on what you cut it with.

If this is true, this 'parent' is out of his mind and needs professional help, not time in a jail!

12. Is the parent really ever gonna be fit?
Because I doubt if "professional help" will really work. What's more worthy of paying for with taxes, jailing the man and revoking his rights to the child, or rehabilitation?

13. You can mix and match: revoke parental rights and send him to rehab rather than jail.
I've seen people get their rights back after some crazy shit but I think we can safely say he's kissed his kid goodbye.
