GOP Members Shoot Muslim Targets at Gun Range
Source: The Ledger (Lakeland, FL)

HALLANDALE BEACH, — South Florida Republicans held a weekly meeting at a gun range, shooting at targets including cut-outs of a Muslim holding a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

The GOP candidate to replace U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz fired at a full-body silhouette with “DWS” written next to its head.

Wasserman Schultz declined comment, but the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee called the Tuesday event “extremist” and “sexist.”

3. So Republicans find it acceptable to shoot guns at silhouettes of their Dem opponents?
This kind of poor judgement, putting it charitably, indicates they should not hold office.

Is this an implied threat to Wasserman Schultz?

If Joe Dipshit did this would a gun range employee think perhaps they should call the Secret Service?

29. i 100% agree
the idea that they would use clearly identifiable muslim targets is a believable idea.

i'm just saying that nobody should accept this article's conclusion w/o knowing why they came to it.

conclusions are supposed to be supported. iow, they are an 'end' that is achieved by first providing supporting data/argumentation.

the article doesn't do this, thus they do not deserve to be believed until there is reason to do so.

i'm not saying DISbelief. i am saying an agnostic stance on whether this happened or not

that is the only logical response to such a poorly written article.

20. but they don't say
which is why accepting the article at face value is ludicrous. it shows one to be a bald partisan.

i'm not going to accept anything at face value like this whether or not it is in concordance with my disposition to believe.

that's the sign of a closed mind and a double standard.

it shouldn't be that one accepts anything just because it agrees with one's preconceptions.

i haven't seen any critical thinking in this thread. the first question that popped to my mind was "how does the writer of the article determine they WERE muslim cutouts?"

and since the article offers no explanation as to a CONCLUSION. they merely offer the conclusion, i'm not going to accept it.

no critical thinker or skeptic should.

and this should be independent of one's politics. if the article said dems or anybody else was doing it, the same question would apply.

I don't think so.

Sounds like they're shooting at an image of someone holding an rpg who is wearing clothing that's pretty standard for a part of the world.

If they shot at paper containing an image of a man dressed in clothing commonly worn in North America would they be said to be shooting Christian targets?

Edited on Fri Oct-09-09 11:19 AM by Blandocyte
they can put up whatever they want so long as it's legal. But I'll spend my time/energy trying to engage in political activity that will actually make a difference.

They can put initials on 'em or write the initials backwards to "cloak" their intent, or, gasp, even draw wavy lines of stench coming from the images for all I care. It's juvenile and ineffectual. Doesn't help their cause.

I say, "Tempest, meet teapot."

87. I think comparing Muslim extremists to the Nazis is perfectly reasonable

56. Self-marginalizing. We hardly have to do anything anymore... they're taking care of the problem
by themselves. The news of what they are and what they do is spreading by itself... they're fucking nuts.

This is as close to real war that these pigs will ever get. The same scum bags that avoided the draft back in the 60's, and they let the poor and unfortunate take their place. Scum bags!
