I’m the most persecuted man in history, says Silvio Berlusconi
Source: Timesonline.UK

Few would argue that it has been a bad week for Silvio Berlusconi.

But the Italian Prime Minister surpassed himself today when he lamented that he was “absolutely, the most persecuted man by the judiciary in all of the history of the entire world”.

Then, the week got worse. Citing the 106 investigations and trials against him, and the 2,500 court hearings, he said: “Over the years I have spent €200 million on consultants and judges, sorry, consultants and lawyers.”

The remark elicited a ripple of laughter through the press conference before he quickly corrected himself.

Sorry for the Italians who are stuck with this crook (just re-elected for 5 more years) as we were with Bush for 8 years.

They have a big leadership void. . .

I bet they would like a clone of Obama right about now.

the FIRST time when he said (letting it all hang out):

I have the good luck – having worked well in the past and having accumulated an important wealth – to have been able to spend more than €200m in consultants and judges ... I mean in consultants and lawyers."

The most persecuted? As I said on another thread I think there is a lot of evidence to the contrary in the files of Amnesty International. For that matter, look at some history of what happened to Italian Jews and political dissidents under fascism - and then consider Berlusconi's acceptance of seriously right-wing allies.

"I have spent €200 million on consultants and judges, sorry, consultants and lawyers.”

Probably he got it right the first time! (How many euros *does* a judge cost?)

A lot of us will be having a real gloatfest if he ends up in jail!
