Financial Giants Donating Little to Obama Party
Source: New York Times

WASHINGTON — The Wall Street giants that received a financial lifeline from Washington may have no compunction about paying big bonuses to their dealmakers and traders. But their willingness to deliver “thank you” gifts to President Obama and the Democrats is another question altogether.

-snip-
But from the financial giants like Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup that received federal bailout money — and whose bankers raised millions of dollars for Mr. Obama’s election — only a half-dozen or fewer are expected to attend (estimated total contribution: $91,200).

Part of the reason, several Democratic fund-raisers and executives said, is a fear of getting caught in the public rage over the perception that Wall Street titans profiting from their government bailout may use their winnings to give back to Washington in return. And the timing of the event, as the industry lobbies against proposals for tighter regulations to address the underlying causes of last year’s meltdown on Wall Street, has only added to the worry over public appearances.

“There are sensitivities there,” said Scott Talbot, a lobbyist for the industry’s Financial Services Roundtable. Political contributions “can make a donor a target,” Mr. Talbot said. Many involved, though, say the low attendance from those Wall Street giants also reflected a broader disenchantment with Mr. Obama over the angry language emanating from the White House over the million-dollar bonuses and anti-regulatory lobbying.

18. They can try all they want.
Good luck finding a candidate stronger than the two piss-weak front-runners who have not a snowball's chance in hell . . .

If I were a betting man, I wouldn't be placing the chips on Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin, that's for damned sure. They'd be better off nominating one of their batshit insane carnival barkers from their media.

5. The poor babies - broken hearted about bonus talk
LOL! Obama the original powder puff. They are sooo sensitive.

Rahm Emanuel said fuck you to the 50 states and grass roots constituency (anyone remember 50 states and all those volunteers?). Instead he went right back to the few key states strategy and went straight to the money bags.

So one day he'll be back looking for support in a tight race and I will be so very happy add my fuck you as well.

What were they thinking? Wall Street just took a big shit on a gold platter and is shoving our noses in it and Democrat leadership is acting like it doesn't stink.

Those mother fuckers took our cash. We want it back. This dem leadership team is turning out to be a very, very bad deal.

These "banks" need to be shut down and dismantled piece by piece.

8. These banksters need to be dismantled piece by piece.
But they will not be.

The leader-ship will cave in again, and for what? 'Hoping' they'll get more than a few pennies from these hacks. Screw the rest of us.

6. Why do we allow tax deductions for Kstreet
Edited on Mon Oct-19-09 11:22 PM by ShockediSay
lobbyists?

Wanna improve our deficit? Eliminate the subsidy for lobbying {as well as the wellspring of Congressional corruption} by taking away the tax deduction.

I believe Congress represents the lobbyists, a lot more so than the vast majority of Americans.

10. Wall Street Has Trapped Itself
If they don't support Democrats, there's no reason NOT to take them down, and plenty of time and public support to do so.

If they DO support Democrats, the stink will either drive Democrats out if the GOP cynically promises to take Wall St. down--and anybody believes them, or revolt at the grassroots will reach the level at which it cannot be ignored, and the Democrats will take them down anyway, regardless of support.

I think we will see that the PTB and Masters of the Universe have gone too far, and there is no safe place for them to be for the next election cycle, maybe two, if the investigations get cranking. They are the new Public Enemy, and deservedly so.
