Blast rocks Islamabad university

An explosion has rocked a university campus in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, police say.

The blast is said to have happened at the Islamic International University, in the east of the city.

Initial reports suggest there have been a number of casualties, but details are sketchy.

It comes as the Pakistani army continues its offensive against Taliban and al-Qaeda militants in the country's north-west.

ISLAMABAD — A double suicide bombing at a university campus in Pakistan's capital on Tuesday killed up to seven people, including the two bombers, an administration official said.

"Seven people, including two suicide bombers are dead, and 29 injured in the two attacks. Among the dead is one female," a senior administration official, Rana Akbar Hayat told AFP at the scene of the attack.

Police investigators confirmed that both were suicide attacks

At least four people have been killed and 18 wounded in bomb explosions at a university in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, officials say.

One unconfirmed report says up to seven people died in the blasts at the International Islamic University, including two suicide bombers.

The attack is the first since the Pakistani army began its offensive against militants in South Waziristan.

Pakistan was hit by a wave of bombings in the days before the assault began.
