U.S., Iran move closer to nuclear deal

Reporting from Beirut - Deft diplomacy and regional security woes are driving Tehran and Washington toward a deal on Iran's nuclear program, experts say, illustrated by movement Wednesday in talks to transfer most of the Islamic Republic's fissile material abroad to be processed for medical uses.

For three decades, Iran and the U.S. have been locked in a frustrating diplomatic flirtation. When one felt strong enough to offer a deal, the other felt too weak to accept.

This time may ultimately prove to be no different. But Iran now is facing its greatest domestic political challenge in decades, unrest in Pakistan and Afghanistan is seeping across its borders, and the Obama administration is committed to creative diplomacy to resolve the standoff.

In talks in Vienna on Wednesday, Iranian, American, Russian and French diplomats agreed to a proposal by the U.N. nuclear monitor, the International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA, to transfer most of Iran's stockpile of nuclear material to Russia and France to be further processed for a Tehran reactor used for medical purposes.

Can you imagine a foreign country telling the American people it had no right to develop nuclear power, that maybe it could do so but only with special supervision and under the threat of sanctions and possibly military reprisal if it did not submit.

Unthinkable right, yet when our guy does it, he deserves a Nobel prize !

I believe it's the UN Security Council that has sanctioned Iran repeatedly not following proper protocols for it's nuclear program. Last time I checked it wasn't just the US sayings these things, but I guess some will always try to portray the US as the bad guy no matter what.


IRAN: Secret nuclear plant broke transparency law, says IAEA chief

The head of the United Nations nuclear enforcement agency said Wednesday that Iran violated transparency laws when it failed to notify international inspectors it was building a second uranium-enrichment plant.

"Iran was supposed to inform us on the day it was decided to construct the facility. They have not done that," Mohamed ElBaradei, of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said in a CNN-India interview during a trip to New Delhi. “They have been on the wrong side of the law, you know, insofar as informing the agency about the construction, and as you have seen it, it has created concern in the international community.”

Peace is not going to break out in the Middle East or with Iran.Check the news in 3 weeks ,more or less,the Persians are experts at stall,delay,give up a crumb,back out etc.etc........They believe time is their friend and it may well be and Israel is the joker in this card game.
