2. So far nobody knows nothing.
They've roped off several blocks in Jeff City, MO as they're looking into what is going on. There are no reports of shots fired at this time or any official reports of hostages.

Grandpa is mad because they keep breaking into The View with updates where they aren't actually giving us any info.

6. Uhhh...
Yes. In fact.

And it drives their formation of decisions as well. Takes a lot of the pressure off of the poor dears. They can even have a Twitter Dweeb following them around to tweet their every thoughts on a Blackberry.

10. Well, it makes a certain amount of sense
It can be accessed from anywhere with a wireless connection, which is virtually everyplace. I think you can even send updates by text message, so you don't need a fancy 3G-capable netsurfing phone, just something that can do SMS. The press will continually monitor the Twitter feeds of politicians on their wireless devices or from their computers.

So it's easier to break news via Twitter than by adding to, say, a press-release blog on a government or corporate web site. Not detail rich, but good for a headline and a link.

12. I'm guessing this was nothing as no more has come out. Reports now are sounding like
it's no big deal:

http://www.kctv5.com/news/21573375/detail.html

Here is word from the Governor:

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, Gov. Nixon has been fully briefed on the situation by. Missouri State Highway Patrol Superintendent Col. James F. Kealthley.

The statement said that Nixon had been attending a business meeting in Texas, but returned to Jefferson City as soon as he learned of the situation. Nixon has been in contact with law enforcement and his senior staff during the entire incident.

---

Why would he come back as soon as he learned of the situation when details are so sketchy? Weird.

http://www.kctv5.com/news/21573375/detail.html

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- KRCG in Jefferson City is reporting that police have shut down a city block because of a possible hostage situation at a downtown office building.

Jefferson City Police said they received an alarm message about a hostage situation, but they said they have not been able to confirm it.

THe St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that Capt. Tim Hull, of the highway patrol, said a woman in the building thought she heard the word “hostage” over an intercom. She called the building’s security company, which contacted police. Authorities locked the building down and continue to investigate.

The Post-Dispatch reports that SWAT teams in fatigues are preparing to enter the building now.
