Landrieu bashed for ‘backroom’ vote dealing
Source: The Advocate

WASHINGTON — They’re calling it the Louisiana Purchase.

State and national Republicans on Monday continued bashing U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., for voting to allow debate to begin on the Senate health-care bill while securing up to $300 million to insure the state’s poor.

“Mary Landrieu had an opportunity to kill this legislation,” said Roger Villere, state Republican Party chairman. “This was the vote that mattered.”
...

Landrieu secured the money for a gap in Louisiana’s Medicaid funding from the federal government.

Landrieu is getting hammered by the GOP for allowing "Health Care Reform" to advance in the Senate even though she obtained _Millions_ of dollars for Louisiana in the process.

The GOP doesn't give a damn about the good you do for average Americans. Only what you do to make sure any Democratic initiatives fail.

Hope Mary is learning that lesson and stops trending GOP-lite.

1. Is Mary Landrieu learning a lesson?
Time will tell, I suppose. But yeah, she actually votes with her party while making kissy-kiss noises to the opposition, and they're on her like beans on rice. Playing both sides is apparently not as much fun in real life as it is on "Survivor." Will Landrieu choose a side? And will it be the side that elected her or the other side?

Tellingly, Roger Villere gives away a substantial bit of the game that's being played: The vote that mattered has now already happened, and we won. Details will be worked out, but a bill will be voted on and go to a conference committee. What comes out of that conference committee will be voted on by the House and the Senate on a majority vote. That means we'll need 218 House votes and 50 Senate votes. That's what this comes down to now.

Nope, still need 60 votes to get cloture before final passage in the Senate and then 60 votes again to get cloture on the conference report.

6. Remember Repug Representative Nick Smith?

House Repugs tried to bribe Smith to support one of their bills by giving his son campaign funds in his race for office.
