New Nationwide Zogby Poll of Likely Democratic Primary Voters
Shows Gephardt, Dean and Lieberman Tied for Lead

vhttp://zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=724

Three Democratic presidential hopefuls share the lead in nationwide polling of likely voters in a primary election, according to results released by Zogby International. Missouri Congressman Richard Gephardt, former Vermont Governor Dr. Howard Dean, and Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman each polled 12% of the 504 likely voters surveyed July 16-17.
In similar nationwide polling by Zogby in March, Lieberman lead the pack with 18%, followed by Gephardt at 11% and Kerry at 9%. Kerry maintained his 9% in the new poll, slipping from 3rd to 4th. Dean jumps in the new poll from a 4th place tie to a 1st place tie. The margin of error for both polls is +/- 4.4%. Error margins are higher for sub-groups.
<snip>

The real headline: Dean vaults from 4% in March to a 12% today, and is tied for first with the two contenders (Lieberman and Gephardt)with the greatest name recognition.

3. Actually, Zogby called the 2000 race for Gore on Monday Nov 4th

While the mainstream polls had Bush winning by 2-4 points.

Just FYI

4. Lieberman Lost a lot of ground
Whether or not you believe he's at 12% (seems high to me)
the same poll had him at 18% before, so he's lost
ONE THIRD OF HIS SUPPORT
on the most Lieberman-friendly poll we've seen.

11. Yes, but only after being exposed for bias to GOP by the Village Voice
two weeks before that. They just stopped lying after the exposee and now people are brandishing that fact as credentials. Zogby is crap, always was.

6. Seriously, I expect Gephardt will be the nominee..
DNC/DLC is doing all they can to sabotage the left leaning candidates. This leaves Gephardt and Lieberman, and Gephardt is well connected with the unions.

Can't allow a dem to win in 04 you know. That would inconvenience Hillary.

12. It is just name recognition
Same thing with Lieberman. He probably led the pack at 18% in March because pretty much everyone knows who he is (thanks to the 2000 election). But now that people are finding out about other candidates (and more about Leiberman) he is slipping. I expect this to continue, and I think it will happen to Gephardt as well.

13. Lieberman 57% FAVORABLE???
And that's down from 63 in march. This poll has no credibility.
