A suicide blast at a college graduation ceremony in Mogadishu on Thursday killed three Somali government ministers and more than a dozen others, highlighting what some officials say is a drive by al Qaeda-backed militants to expand in the troubled east African country.
Mohamed Ali Nur, the Somali ambassador to Kenya, said that the Somali ministers of health, education and higher education had been confirmed killed. The minister of youth and sports, initially reported killed, remains critically wounded, according to U.S. officials. The final death toll was still unknown, but Mr. Nur said that initial reports from Mogadishu indicated at least 19 students had been killed, and many others injured.

The graduation ceremony was held in a hotel just outside the area of Mogadishu that Amisom controls. Blood and body parts lay on the floor. People began screaming and running for the exit, trampling the wounded as they fled.

The graduation ceremony was being held at a medical school, I believe. The death toll is now up to some 57, according to another source.
Maybe we really are living in the end times. When people get the notion that it's alright to set off bombs at a medical school graduation, how much worse can things become? Targeting kindergartens and schools? Oh, I forgot -
