Ford announces Michigan investment
Source: Detroit WXYZ TV

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Ford plans to invest $450 million in its electric vehicle initiative in Michigan. It was a major announcement Monday at the Detroit Auto Show.

The plan includes moving battery pack assembly from Mexico to Michigan. It's a move that's expected to generate at least 1,000 jobs and save 34,000.

The automaker announced that all electric vehicles will be made at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne. Hybrid development operations would move from Mexico to the Van Dyke Transmission Plant.

Governor Jennifer Granholm says Michigan is setting itself up to become the battery capital of the world.

“Ford continues to demonstrate its commitment to Michigan by bringing together world-class products, advanced technology applications and our talented workforce to build the next generation of vehicles that will help reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil,” Granholm said.

4. Holy Voltage, Batman!
My Granddad spent his working life at Ford and thought they were a great company.

It's not often these days that I get the chance to agree with him.

bemusedly,
Bright
