3. Like they'd tell us if he didn't commit suicide.
It's getting so that it doesn't matter what government makes the announcement. They're all starting to sound like the old Soviet Union to me.

4. Not enough information yet to determine if something is fishy about it.

His friends and colleagues aren't suspecting foul play and seem to accept the suicide-version, so maybe that's all it was. Coincidences happen, even strange ones.

I'll post when I know more.

6. Kind of reminds me of the suspicious death of John O'Neill. Not 'suicide', but reportedly lost in
the twin tower collapse.
I believe he was the Trade Tower Security Chief and an ex-FBI counter terrorism expert deeply involved in the whole al Qaeda/bin Laden investigation.

8. I immediately thought of O'Neill too
but you don't hear of too many top security people dying, under any circumstances, I don't think.

Can we say "thorough investigation?"

DAVOS, Switzerland -(Dow Jones)- The death of the World Economic Forum's chief of security, Markus Reinhardt, was confirmed Tuesday by the government of the Swiss canton of Grison.

A government spokesman declined to comment on how the 61-year-old police chief died, calling his death a tragic event.

He said Reinhardt, who since 1984 was also the head of the cantonal police of Grison, will be replaced by Marcel Suter as head of WEF security, adding that security measures at the WEF remained intact at all times. Suter was Reinhardt's second-in- command at WEF and is Captain in the cantonal police.

The canton's chief prosecutor said it has started an investigation into Reinhardt's death. Reinhardt was found in his hotel room earlier Tuesday.

A little history:

...In March 2000, Graubunden police killed Ewald K., a 22-year-old man who had fired 19 bullets at neighboring buildings using his military rifle. Although no one was killed, Ewald K. severely injured a policeman and killed his trained dog. Markus Reinhardt, head of the Graubunden police, was charged with murder after he ordered elite policemen to execute Ewald K. after hours of unsuccessful negotiations. The victim's family sought $34,340 (50,000 Swiss francs) in damages; however, on February 28 of this year, the cantonal court ruled that the immediate threat to the population justified the execution order.

14. If anyone is running double-agents, I hope this is the signal to roll them up.
If there's another spectacular attack, it's on the head of those who by negligence, or worse, let it happen, again.
