DENVER (AP) -- Attorney General Ken Salazar has quickly moved from the Democrats' best chance of reclaiming the governor's office in 2006 to one of his party's brightest hopes for picking up a Senate seat from the Republicans.

Salazar, 49, declared his candidacy last week for the Senate seat being vacated by two-term Republican Ben Nighthorse Campbell. He was joined at the news conference by Rep. Mark Udall and think tank founder Rutt Bridges, two leading Democratic candidates who simultaneously dropped out of the race when Salazar entered

1. Whoever came up with that headline for that article must have been
on crack! Its hilarious. 90% of the article is about Salazar butSchaffer is the focus of the headline? What gives?

Anyway, thanks for the early-morning laugh! It was a very good piece on Salazar...

2. I hope Tancredo runs.
I hope he spews racist vitriol and tarnishes his party with its true agenda.

5. Not running
He's trying to keep his 6th district alive full of spew.

Too bad he'll be booted out in November.

3. Headlines are there so that people can "read the news" without
reading the story.

They get the "news" from the headline. That's how nearly everybody who reads the news "knows that Gore lost the recount" even though the story said, at the end, that the only way that Gore would lose the recount was if the recount was held using the standards Gore wanted. Gore would have won the recount in the exacting, narrow standards as demanded by the Republicans.

4. He's worthless.
He won't get very much votes in Colorado, according to my friend. He is a fundy and will only muster votes from the El Paso county and maybe a few others.

My friend is still trying to debate whether or not to support Salazar or Miles.
