Abortions higher among religious school students
Source: Vancouver Sun

A study published in The Journal of Health and Social Behavior shows that more than 25 per cent of young women who went to religious schools had abortions.

The study of 1,500 women under the age of 26 found that "unwed teens and those in their twenties who have attended religious schools are more likely to have abortions than their counterparts who went to public schools."

Conducted by Amy Adamczyk of City University of New York (left), the study theorized that young women who attend religious schools, even if they're not particularly religious, may feel more shame about becoming pregnant through sexual relations outside marriage. Paradoxically, the study found no correlation between young women's personal religiosity -- defined by their attendance at a religious institution, prayer frequency and the importance of faith in their lives -- and their abortion decisions.

"Religious school attendance is not necessarily indicative of conservative religious beliefs because students attend these schools for a variety of reasons," Adamczyk said.

Either too ashamed or too ill-informed to buy a condom, too.

1. They'd rather "kill their baby" than to raise a "bastard" in their community.
They're born to fail from the moment the sperm hits the egg.

3. Kids attend those schools because Mom and Dad say they have to.
The reason abortion rates are higher is because religious schools find the whole sex thing icky doodle and don't give them the information about birth control that they need. Their fellow students aren't much help, either, the way public school students with more skeptical parents might be. You know most religious parents aren't going to talk about it, either.

However, all of the above preach against abortion, so when the inevitable happens, religious school girls know what to do about it.

4. Growing up we always counted on the Catholic School girls
Hope that doesn't make anyone think I am sexist. It was a fact and we were horny teenagers. The Catholic girls always were ready.

18. Growing up, I noticed it was anyone...nothing religious involved.
I think all teens are horny as a generality. Schoolkids separated by sex , though, tend to be the worse on the horniness scale because they didn't have the opposite sex sitting in the next chair in every classroom.

5. Religious schools are often expensive, thus the difference may be...
...mediated by those who can afford and abortion and those who can't.

14. Having been in that position over 40 years ago I can tell you what
happens. First it is hard to get birth control because the doctor and pharmacist probably belong to your church and glare at you when you try. When you end up pregnant the school will suspend you if they find out you got an abortion. They will also suspend you if you do not but with the abortion you have less chance of embarrassment. What I am trying to say is that the rules the colleges have contribute to the student choosing abortion rather than birth.

17. No doubt.
They aren't educated, they are indoctrinated. Not learning about means of prevention means you don't use prevention. Duh. Typical. No meme here.
