Spain 'to take Guantanamo five'
Source: BBC News

Spain is willing to take in five inmates from the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, it says.

Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos made the announcement on Monday. He had previously said Spain would take in two detainees - a Yemeni and a Palestinian.

None of the names, nor the nationalities of the three others, have been revealed.

The transfers are part of US President Barack Obama's efforts to close the controversial facility.

1. Good news! Slowly but surely, the Gitmo detainees are being
thinned out, hopefully in advance of closing that den of horrors.

once they're in Spain they can travel anywhere in the EU - a fact which don't bother none given that a lot of the detainees just seem to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

5. Not only that, but once in Spain,
they could testify against Bush/Cheney in Judge Garzon's war crimes inquiry. So, for that reason, no Gitmo detainees will ever be released into the EU.
