"Star Trek" veteran's actor son missing in Canada
Source: Reuters

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The actor son of "Star Trek" veteran Walter Koenig has disappeared while visiting friends in Canada, and family pleaded on Sunday for information on his whereabouts to be given to the Vancouver police.

Andrew Koenig, 41, who co-starred as "Boner" on the 1980s sitcom "Growing Pains," was last seen in Vancouver on February 14 after neighbors said he sold all his possessions in Los Angeles.

"He's been depressed," his father, who has a degree in psychology, told local ABC television station KABC. "He's trying to get ahead in this business and he's been working at it a long time."

Koenig, 73, who played Starfleet officer Pavel Chekov on the original "Star Trek" series and the first seven feature spin-offs, said drugs were not an issue.

1. Better headline 'Boner missing - last seen in Vancouver.'
MSNBC had "Growing Pains actor" and I assumed since they didn't name Kirk Cameron (we should be so lucky for his gawd to call him up!) that it was the little brother, and who would want to look for him? But Boner? He was an icon of the late 80s. I mean, it's BONER, man! C'mon!

3. My paper headlined it as "Search widens for Growing Pains actor missing in Canada"...
...and mentioned his parents "Walter and Judy Koenig".

It never mentioned his dad's fame. (I didn't even realize it myself, and I'm a Trekie)

7. I wasn't familiar w/ the connection either..
Ironically, if the headline on DU mentioned Growing Pains, I'd've moved on w/o any interest. Weird connection though..

5. Ditto
He seemed so much younger than the rest of the cast. Good acting, that.

4. How Sad
I hope they find him safe and healthy. Parents should never have to lose their child and Walter Koenig seems to be a really nice guy.

9. He is a really nice guy. As a teen I was in charge of showing him around my city
when he was in town for a convention. I spent a week with Walter and got to know him fairly well. He's quiet, humble, but has a very quick wit. He had as much fame as he was comfortable with, so he never went after more. He has to be a wreck right now. I hope that they find his son safe and sound soon!
