10 killed in clash between two Taliban groups

KURRAM AGENCY: At least ten terrorists have been killed during the clash between the two Taliban groups in Dogar area of Kurram Agency on Tuesday.

The clash erupted between Toofan Mulah and Mulah Rafiq groups and at least ten terrorists have been killed during fighting between the two groups. Qari Yousuf, an important commander of Mulah Rafiq group has also been killed in the clash. Mullah Rafiq with his many companions have been made hostage by Mulah Toofan group.

Nothing more at link, very thin on information about this event. I expect more by the end of the day, but: the death of Qari Yousuf/Yousef would be a big story -- he's been among the Taliban's chief PR folks lately. FYI Kurran Valley is in the FATA, the mountainous area on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border.

No confirmation on Qari Yousaf, but a second report of infighting between factions.

Seven die as militant groups clash in Kurram

HANGU: Seven militants, including a commander, were killed in a clash between two groups of militants in Dogar area in Kurram Agency, tribal sources said on Tuesday.

The sources said the groups of militants headed by Mulla Toofan and Mulla Rafique clashed in Dogar area using heavy weapons and ammunition. As a result, seven militants, including Qari Yousaf, were reported to have been killed while Mulla Toofan group claimed to have made 48 militants, including Mulla Rafique, hostage.

However, independent sources did not confirm the incident. Meanwhile, two groups of the militants exchanged heavy fire against each other in Ferozkhel area in Orakzai agency but there was no report of casualties.
