CHENEY CALLS KERRY THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY... [DRUDGE]
strangely, like most of drudge's sensationalist headlines, the actual quote does not appear in cheney's speech, according to drudge's transcript. drudge is a hate-monger... he just wants to cause trouble.

Cheney says Kerry holds US allies in 'contempt'
Wed Mar 17 2004 15:39:34 ET

If John Kerry had been in charge during last year's Iraq war and the 1991 Gulf War, Saddam Hussein would still be in control of Iraq and Kuwait, Vice President Dick Cheney said on Wednesday.

Kerry has accused President George W. Bush of isolating the United States in the world by failing to build international support for the invasion of Iraq one year ago.

But Cheney said: "Of the many nations that have joined our coalition, allies and friends of the United States, Senator Kerry speaks with open contempt.

"Great Britain, Australia, Italy, Spain, Poland, and more than 20 other nations have contributed and sacrificed for the freedom of the Iraqi people," Cheney said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California.

"Senator Kerry calls these countries, quote, 'window-dressing'. They are in his words, a coalition of the coerced and the bribed.

1. I wish he would have listed the other 20
I always like to see Guam get its rightful due. By the way, Cheney, you better strike Spain from your list.

2. Let me fix this line

Cheney says,

"Great Britain, Australia, Italy, Spain, Poland, and more than 20 other nations have contributed and sacrificed for the freedom of the Iraqi people," Cheney said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California."

A better reading would be,

The heads of state of Great Britain, Australia, Italy, Spain, Poland, and more than 20 other nations have contributed soldiers to the US war effort, against the will of the people of those countries, and sacrificed for the profits of my former employer Halliburton

3. Kerry will fuck Chaney real good on this one. Chaney, your done!!!
"Senator Kerry calls these countries, quote, 'window-dressing'. They are in his words, a coalition of the coerced and the bribed. (and it's true, thats why I needed to gouge a few billion dollars from halliburton to pay them off.)

5. Remember last year when
they were hitting up countries to be a part of the coalition? I think they hit up Samoa....or maybe it was Borneo. This was at a low point of their "recruitment", after Japan had turned them down (there was a thread here about it).

I sensed some desperation. Even the Samoans, it seems, had more sense. They turned the Yankees down, flat. It appears that they would not get paid, "but they would supply them with uniforms".

I suppose that would have been better than a grass skirt & a puka shell necklace (no offence, guys! You did the right thing).

6. Correction: "If Al Gore had been in charge during last year"
(As he should have been) We wouldn't even be having this discussion about war!

8. That smirking bastard has a lot of gall...
If there was anyone in this a world that is a threat to our national security, it would have to be Dick Cheney. It was probably his idea not to continue the drones over Afghanistan because he had his eye on the pipeline and big bucks for friends in the oil business. We never did get those secret energy papers from him, did we? And the people are expected to believe that lying asshole??

Cheney, Out of the Bunker Into the D-Bunker
ALERT: Vice President Dick Cheney emerged from his bunker to criticize John Kerry on defense.

FACT: CHENEY IS THE WRONG MAN TO CHALLENGE JOHN KERRY ON DEFENSE

Cheney on NBC's Meet The Press:

MR. RUSSERT: Do you regret not taking Saddam out nine years ago?

MR. CHENEY: I don't, Tim. It was--and it's been talked about since then. But the fact of the matter is, the only way you could have done that would be to go to Baghdad and occupy Iraq. If we'd done that, the U.S. would have been all alone. We would not have had the support of the coalition, especially of the Arab nations that fought alongside us in Kuwait. None of them ever set foot inside Iraq. Conversations I had with leaders in the region afterwards--they all supported the decision that was made not to go to Baghdad. They were concerned that we not get into a position where we shifted instead of being the leader of an international coalition to roll back Iraqi aggression to one in which we were an imperialist power, willy-nilly moving into capitals in that part of the world taking down governments. Meet the Press, 8/27/00, emphasis added

10. Dick Talk...
"If John Kerry had been in charge during last year's Iraq war and the 1991 Gulf War, Saddam Hussein would still be in control of Iraq and Kuwait, Vice President Dick Cheney said on Wednesday."

And the world would be a safer place...Dick.
Let's face it...Dick.
A lot of people that are dead right now would see the sun rise tomorrow...Dick.
And the majority of Iraqis would be happier for it, and keeping the majority happy is what democracy's all about, ain't it...Dick?

11. Disgusting!
I'm sure Kerry will have a statement debunking this slander. How Iraq can be free when everything is so unsafe is beyond me.
