TAMPA - Chris Jarnegan always filled his Ford Expedition with premium unleaded gasoline - until this week, when he got a case of sticker shock at the pump.

I was pumping at Hess.. I have to research RAce Trac to see who supplies them, etc., because I refuse to go to Exxons, etc.

On Hwy 19 it is about $1.71 for regular of course. My cruiser doesn't demand that high end stuff :+

Palm Beach County $1.79 reg up to $2.00 premium. That was in a Mobil and a Shell. It's about 5 cents cheaper at the discount gas stations.

Shouldn't an Explorer run as well on the mid-level of octane (89)? My car tends to slug if I use the lowest grade all of the time, but premium? He must have money to burn.
