Obama White House unveils 'open government' plans
Source: USA Today

Want to investigate -- er, research -- the Obama administration?

The White House announced "open government" plans today for all Cabinet agencies, calling them road maps "for making transparency, citizen participation and collaboration part of the way they work."

"For too long, Washington has closed itself off from the oversight of the American public, resulting in information that's difficult to find, taxpayer dollars that disappear without a trace and lobbyists that wield undue influence," President Obama said in a statement.

"Now that these plans are published online," he said, "we hope the American people will play their part and collaborate with us to provide oversight and improve upon this information."

6. With someone as wise as Obama
Do you really have to worry about transparency?
He broke a few promises, but is moving us ahead. The end justifies the means.

9. Never trust anybody. Period. If Obama opens up the government,
if he succeeds in making it more transparent, it will be difficult for other administrations to close it.

I suspect that you are being sarcastic, but that's all the more reason for me to remind you that whoever it is, whatever it is in which you have placed your faith blindly, start doubting and questioning it. Bush, Obama, the Tea-Baggers, Fox News, MSNB, question it all.

10. The time for skepticism is over.
Obama is here. He's the one we've waited for. For real change, you have to have trust.

14. This is an administration, not a religion.
And blind faith is inimical to democratic process.

17. remember to click your heels.
Always question everything our government does. Following anyone blindly is no better than the tea bagging ball licking repuke water carrying morons.

Always be skeptical of anyone who "looks out for our own best interests".

I will support good policy and criticize bad.

They work for us, not the other way around. If more people understood that, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in today.

11. The end justifies the means? Are you fucking kidding me.
Need something? Steal it. Ends justify the means.

Here's a plan to end homelessness in America: Execute all homeless persons within US borders. Ends justify the means.

Need to find out something from someone? Beat it out of them. Ends justify the means.

Here's a plan to reduce the number of uninsured Americans: Mandate insurance. Ends justify the means. (Just don't tell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoSnqofelsQ">this guy.)

Sure we invaded Iraq with no just cause and killed hundreds of thousands of civilians. Saddam was a bad guy and now he's gone. Ends justify the means.

Give me a break.

8. Great news. There is already quite a bit of useful government data online.
Statistics of various kinds (although not always what you might need or want). Let's keep our government transparent. Citizens need facts, not propaganda.

12. So are we EVER going to see or hear the HCR Meetings with Big Pharma?
The "transparency" when applied to anything relevant is "invisible" ! LOL!
