Far right targets Pennsylvania youth group
http://www.advocate.com/new_news.asp?ID=9438&sd=07/30/03

The far-right American Family Association of Pennsylvania is criticizing a gay-straight alliance in Erie, Pa., saying that the club's agenda could lead to discrimination against other students, particularly those with strong religious convictions.

1. It always makes me chuckle
when right-wing Christian fundamentalist cry that people are infringing upon their "right" to hate and oppress others.

3. and these days they cloak that in
religious freedom. This is the argument they have been using in the Senate judiciary committee. It's very clever & reminds me of when the white supremacists switched to their white pride game. No Ku Klux Klan, now it's National Association for Advancement of White People. The religious right is doing the same thing. We're not discriminating against your religion, we just want to make sure there are no brakes on OUR right to religion. Clever but, hopefully, it will not work any better for them than it did for David Duke -- who looks a lot like Norm Coleman, don't you think?

6. Hate
They have every right to hate. It's freedom of speech, even if it sucks.
