Judge denies bail to man in Pelosi threat case
The Monterey County Herald

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A judge refused Monday to release a man accused of making threatening phone calls to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over her support of health care reform.

"If he is released, there's a danger he will do what he threatened to do," U.S. Magistrate Judge Bernard Zimmerman said about defendant Gregory Lee Giusti after a 20-minute hearing in federal court.

Zimmerman refused to grant bail to the 48-year-old San Francisco resident, citing the alleged threats and Giusti's criminal record, which includes two felony convictions and 13 misdemeanor convictions during the past 10 years.

Prosecutors said Giusti made at least 48 calls to the San Francisco and Washington, D.C., offices of Pelosi between Feb. 6 and March 25.

3. Good. I hope this gives others something to think about.
Many RWers think they will be treated as heroes for doing violence against the left, and I'm glad to see some of them are finding out otherwise.

13. Recommend. This guy is unstable.
I really do not favor the bond/bail requirements of most courts on most criminal matters, but those who make threats of this nature and have shown a propensity to uncontrollable and impulsive aggression cannot be allowed to walk freely.

14. He's learning that abusing a Magic Jack makes him a Magic Jerk!
Make an example of him. Lock him up, toss the key and terminate any benefit payments he gets.

15. If this was a liberal making the same type of threats against a republican
I would expect the same treatment. However we progressives know better, it's a shame that these nutjobs haven't figured it out.

17. Here's another linkie
Man Busted for Harassing Nancy Pelosi with 'Untraceable' magicJack

(snip)
Not only did he threaten Pelosi, but Giusti taunted her staff, saying, "This number is, and the number I'm calling from is, untraceable so if you're trying to trace it, have fun." Turns out, it wasn't. The FBI and Capitol police traced the number to a magicJack account in California. Giusti was smart enough to list another name and address on the account. However, he listed a man who he attended church with a few years back. The unnamed man recognized Giusti's voice from police tapes and identified him. Giusti, in typical dumb criminal style, denied being the caller until authorities called the number in question and Giusti answered -- while the cops were still in his house.
(snip)

Fumducker.
