NCAA bans wedge blocks, eye black with messages
Source: St. Petersburg Times

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Eye black with messages and wedge blocks will be banned from college football this fall, and taunting in the field of play will start costing teams points in 2011.

...A third change bans the use of eye black containing symbols or messages, a trend that grew in popularity because of the use by Heisman Trophy winners Reggie Bush and Tim Tebow.

Good to see that backlash from the Tim Tebow incident has brought about some better rules.

6. Uneducated post
This is mainly to stop Tebow-ites from proselytizing and possibly blocking advertising before it starts.

But...awesome job injecting race where it has no bearing!! Really stellar effort.

7. The taunting change is terrible
It forces officials to take away touchdowns. It's terrible.

9. However, it encourages good sportsmanship
Nothing as annoying as seeing a college player taunt the other team as he goes in for a score.

10. The taunting is going to be less annoying than the unfair criticism of officials.
"They're kids"
"Let them play"
etc. etc. etc.

11. long overdue, if this was done at the Olympics, they would not be competing. period.

and that isn't to say the Olympics are perfect by any stretch, but they know when people are playing the game, or when they are merely playing games.

kudos to the NCAA over the eyeblack messages. ridiculous on its face... literally
