Iran wants nuke fuel talks with Security Council
Source: LaCrosse Tribune

Iran's foreign minister says Tehran wants to discuss a nuclear fuel deal with U.N. Security Council members. Manouchehr Mottaki's remarks reflect a new push by Iran to revive talks with the international community.

State radio on Monday quoted Mottaki as saying Iranian delegations will "visit China, Russia, Lebanon and Uganda within the next 10 days to pursue talks."
Mottaki says Iran wants direct talks with all Council members except one, with which it will pursue indirect talks. He likely meant U.S. since Tehran and Washington don't have diplomatic relations.

1. This is wonderful. The International community should welcome Iran with open arms.
Especially if Iran is willing to be open about their arms. LOL! But I have a feeling Iran will try to dissuade Russia and China from pursuing sanctions against them. I think they will try to finagle a veto from one of the two.

2. How is Iran shifting?
It's been talking about this kind of thing for a long time. It's had pretty much the same offers made repeatedly, and made the same offers repeatedly. There have been slight variations in the offers. These offers have always been considered crucial, deal-making; but 6 months later the variations have always turned out to be utterly unimportant. No matter, quickly there was another variation with just the right critical variations introduced that would again yield a deal. Iran had again changed its stance, all would be okay.

Even last year there was a "deal" struck, with a deadline for approval. Iran had shifted in its stance, we were told--the breakthrough we all waited for. The world was saved. Then the deadline passed, but it was reinterpreted as not a hard deadline but a squishy one, so the world was still saved--no matter that the naysayers said nay, as they had in the 10 or 20 instances before. As before, this would be different. Then the terms of the deal weren't taken to be terms of a deal but suggestions and ideas to be taken or left; it was unclear that the world was saved. But then

A SQUIRREL!

Where? Where?
