10. Wrong. They will pick up seats in both the House and Senate...........
..........I don't believe they will take back either body, but they will make gains.

12. Did I Say They Wouldn't Make ANY Gains?
Edited on Wed Apr-28-10 12:03 PM by Beetwasher
They might, they might not. You don't know that any more than I do. But they blew any chance they had of routing the Dems and taking back either house, that's for sure, you can bank on it.

I actually think now the Dems stand a good chance of holding their significant majorities and I wouldn't be surprised if they picked up a few seats. Doubtful, but now not nearly as unlikely.

a grave deeper and deeper for themselves.

21. And Politically Speaking, It's Too Late For The Repubs To Do Anything About It
The damage is done. Even if they agree now to proceed with the bill, it's too late. They fucked themselves but good!

25. Umm, That's Not What They Say, I Read Them
Edited on Wed Apr-28-10 12:46 PM by Beetwasher
Everything they say is all qualified in probabilities based on the CURRENT climate. YOU need to read what they say more carefully.

Read them again in a few weeks AFTER this whole Fin Reg debate. We'll see if their still singing that tune.

6 months is a lifetime in politics and the winds are changing.

And again, I never said they would make NO GAINS. But they ARE blowing their chance of making significant gains, as is being hyped by the media.

28. Especially with the SC's helpful ruling on corporate personhood for
contributions. As I always tell people, "Never underestimate the capability of the American people to vote in the wrong people for the wrong reasons." Bush twice was enough to rattle my confidence in Americans to vote with clear heads. Many will just listen to well funded republican spin and vote accordingly, often a very gullible nation IMO.

4. Any Idea who the +1 is?
Also, curious if the Dems are just shirking letting the Republicans actually perform a filibuster, or is the mere threat just enough to take it off the table.

Nevermind, just figured out who the +1 is, it is Reid so he can bring it back up.

14. Wasn't Nelson - that dirtball was part of the first two votes against...
b/c he's a shareholder (~$6MM in shares) in Berkshire Hathaway and he was upset about a provision being added which didn't give some exclusions for Warren Buffet et al to continue using some derivatives without regulation. Imagine that. :eyes:

39. To be clear on why Reid changed his vote to "Nay"
He changes his vote after the outcome is clear for procedural reasons: it preserves his right to bring the measure up for a vote later on.
