Sources say Arpaio will announce run for governor Monday
Source: ABC15

PHOENIX – Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is expected to announce Monday if he'll run for Arizona governor.

Several sources confirm to the ABC15 Investigators that Arpaio has already made a decision, and will likely run for the office.

In a news conference after this story was first published, the Sheriff said he was still weighing his options, but also that he would in fact have an announcement on Monday.

However, when asked about a state sales tax during the news conference, the Sheriff said, "When I'm the governor, I'll study the issue." He then clarified, "If become the governor..so I become the governor...I'll study it."

Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen said he has spoken with the Sheriff on several occasions about running for governor.

2. Actually, this might be a good thing. The overloaded primary
could cause the GOP to bloody themselves up good and make it easier for Terry. Arpaio is going to look like a traitor to Brewer and that could be a good thing. Dean Martin will squeal like a stuck pig.

8. Agreed. Plus the more light that gets shown on this cockroach the better. Cockroaches hate the light
If he gets the GOP nomination that makes the party's attitudes towards Hispanics and civil liberties that much more obvious and, hopefully, improves Terry's chances.

If Arpaio becomes governor, I feel sorry for Hispanics in the state. It will be like being an African-American in Alabama when George Wallace was governor (not that there haven't been many other governors who were just as bad as Wallace in Alabama and other states). Sad state of affairs but it would make it clear to the rest of the country what kind of power structure runs the state.

11. Reasons:
A) Only Maricopa County residents eligible to vote.
B) Those locked up in his tent jail can't vote.
C) This is the same state that William Rehnquist challenged voters that didn't fit his profile when he was much younger.
D) Residents rather spend their time gambling.
E) The rest rather spend their time golfing.

21. Sources say Arpaio will announce run for governor Monday

23. Time for Terry to take off the gloves.
I'm really thinking that all that has happened this year - from cutting SChip, to the Birther bill, to this insane legislation might just be what Arizona needs to get people in this state motivated to GOTV for change. And that change is not going to have an R next to their name. Everything that Brewer has done has hurt minorities, the disabled and the poor...and the working class. Those people tend to vote for Democrats.
Plus there's that Buzz Mills guy that is really letting Brewer have it. He is ripping her to shreds in the way I wish Goddard was, but at the same time it makes it easier for Terry because he doesn't have to get as nasty.

November could be a pretty interesting month in Arizona history. I have hope...and if not, I really do miss my family in Chicago.

24. Hmmm....who else is running for Gov. in Az? I also want to know
what McNuts & Kyle think about him being Gov. Obviously the current Gov. would think that's a great idea, excep she'd be oout of a job! Interesting. It looks to be an amusing campaign.

With the Sun City vote, he could very well win. He' wildly popular in the retiree communities, which we have a lot of here.

*sigh*

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not feeling optimistic tonight.

I'm already worried about McCain losing the Republican primary. Yes, that's right, I want McCain to win. Why? Because if J.D. Hayworth beats him in the primary, it's hello Senator Hayworth.

:-(
