Arizona authorities have arrested a 35-year-old Georgia man after they say they found more than 480 pounds of marijuana in the truck he was driving north of Phoenix.

Tommy Lee Pinkins of Moultrie, Ga., was booked into the Maricopa County Jail in Phoenix on charges of possession and transportation of marijuana for sale and illegal control of an enterprise.

22. i disagree..... here is some of the text of the bill
B. For any lawful contact made by a law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person. The person's immigration status shall be verified with the federal government pursuant to 8 United States code section 1373(c).

----------------WHAT THEN IS IT SAYING?
IF YOU ARE STOPPED AND THERE IS SUSPICION (AS WITH THE TRUCK DRIVER RECENTLY IN THE NEWS) SUCH AS YOU ARE MEXICAN LOOKING AND DON'T HAVE
YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE WITH YOU

THEN YOU CAN BE HELD AS HE WAS UNTIL HIS WIFE ARRIVED WITH THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE TO GET HIM FREED

---------------

of course--- he could as you suggest NOT SHOW PROOF, but then he would probably have to wait in jail until the feds show up and ?

27. Possession of a valid driver's license (from most states) proves lawful presence in the USA
Which is sufficient to end the line of inquiry into a person's immigration status.

39. When cross checked via the officers' database it eliminates most forgeries
Forged driver's license will work okay for getting into a club or even buying beer, but when they are checked by the state records the ruse will be uncovered.

41. Not in itself.
As a perm resident alien, my DL is endorsed with this fact. Therefore my DL references the fact I have a legal document that permits me to stay in the USA, in effect "forever", but has to be renewed every 10 years as a matter of course, or until I naturalize, whichever happens first.

13. The 1972 Presidential Commission on Marijuana found that 10 million smoke it daily. . .
Help me with some math.

If 10 million smoke it daily, let's figure 4 to a joint (or a blunt or whatever the terminology du jour might be -- I haven't smoked in decades). But at 4 to a smoke, that's 2.5 million joints a day. At 30 joints per ounce (??), that's better than 80,000 ounces a day, or approximately 5,200 pounds a day, or somewhere around 3 tons smoked every day. (Your math may differ depending on how fat you roll.) I suspect my numbers are conservative, and even at 1972 numbers the amount smoked was closer to 10,000 pounds a day. Every day. Almost 2,000 tons each year.

And that was in 1972.

So now, yet again, we're told of another "massive marijuana bust," and the drug warriors say they captured "close to 500 pounds of the noxious weed." But I have to keep this fact in mind: All they did was impact less than two hours of consumption (at a rate set some 40 years ago). It wouldn't surprise me if today's levels were double, or even triple, those of my youth.

I can't get over the belief that Tommy Pinkins' true crime is he didn't pay the proper people to get his pass to Moultrie, GA.

You need to know how seeded the stuff was, to figure out how much would be smoking material. :hippie:
