The pictures on the Rentboy.com profile show a shirtless young man with delicate features, guileless eyes, and sun-kissed, hairless skin. The profile touts his "smooth, sweet, tight ass" and "perfectly built 8 inch cock (uncut)" and explains he is "sensual," "wild," and "up for anything" — as long you ask first. And as long as you pay.

That man was George Alan Rekers, of North Miami — the callboy's client and, as it happens, one of America's most prominent anti-gay activists. Rekers, a Baptist minister who is a leading scholar for the Christian right, left the terminal with his gay escort, looking a bit discomfited when a picture of the two was snapped with a hot-pink digital camera.

Reached by New Times before a trip to Bermuda, Rekers said he learned Lucien was a prostitute only midway through their vacation. "I had surgery," Rekers said, "and I can't lift luggage. That's why I hired him." (Medical problems didn't stop him from pushing the tottering baggage cart through MIA.) Yet Rekers wouldn't deny he met his slender, blond escort at Rentboy.com — which features homepage images of men in bondage and grainy videos of crotch-rubbing twinks — and Lucien confirmed it.

Yet, the one of this pair seen struggling at the airport with an overladen luggage cart was Reker, not "julien."

Even though rentboy is patently a site offering male prostitutes, Reker claims he did not realize "lucien" was a prostitute until halfway through the trip. Lucien thinks Reker should have at least owned up to knowing Lucien was a prostitute from the jump (so to speak). He should've been able to tell you that," he said, fidgeting and fixing his eyes on his knees. "But that's up to him."

Meanwhile, their correspondence shows this was their second luggage carrying trip, not their first. "I'd like to propose another trip to Rome, Italy, for a week or more," Rekers wrote in an email dated March 21 obtained by New Times.

And even though Lucien was clearly trying to cover for his client, Lucien never mentioned luggage carrying or having been preached to during their "retreat(s)."

Last night Colbert took on George Rekers, "applauding" the anti-gay activist for "publicly condemning man-love, while privately being man's best friend."

Rekers, who was caught with a male escort from the website Rentboy.com, had claimed his companion was there merely to lift his luggage. Colbert can understand that. He checked out Rentboy.com for himself. Nothing unusual - just some strapping, topless men who would make good bellhops.

Colbert even admitted that much of his crew was from Rentboy.com before breaking out into a mini-dance party with his topless cameraman.

"The state planned to cap Rekers' fee at $60,900 -- but paid him $120,693 after he exceeded his contracted hours. 'It is not unusual for estimated costs to require adjustment during the course of trial preparation,' said Sandi Copes, communications director for the Florida Attorney General's Office. Copes said the extra hours were not agreed to in writing, but 'merely by discussion.' 'A total of 402.31 hours was submitted for payment by invoice attached. Of the 402.31 hours, 203 was paid by Direct Order,' according to a 2009 state settlement agreement. 'We accept responsibility for not obtaining a written document for the 199.31 remaining hours. However, the monies are legally due.'"
