WATERTOWN —

FBI agents surrounded a home at 39 Waveley Ave. in Watertown early Thursday morning. Here is a press release from FBI special agent Warren Bamford.

“We can confirm that search warrants have been executed in several locations in the Northeast in connection with the investigation into the attempted Time Square bombing. A number of individuals encountered during the searches were taken into federal custody for alleged immigration violations. At this time we can provide no further details as the investigation is ongoing. These searches are the product of evidence that has been gathered in the investigation subsequent to the attempted Times Square bombing and do not relate to any known immediate threat to the public or active plot against the United States.”‬‪

1. See how much time they wasted reading an American citizens his
rights?

You would think that Americans, especially so-called true Americans, would be leery of such cavalier calls to suspend a persons rights. The right and their followers never cease to amaze me...

6. I know where that is. My friend lives not too far away.
There's a school a block or two away. It's been non-stop on TV in Boston this morning. (Coincidentally, I'll be going by my friend's place tonight, so I might be passing it by.)

7. F.B.I. Raids in Northeast Are Linked to Bomb Case
Source: NY Times

Federal authorities on Thursday raided several locations in the Northeast and took several people into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into the failed Times Square car bombing, according to a statement released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Boston.

The statement said the actions “do not relate to any known immediate threat to the public or active plot against the United States” and were undertaken based on evidence that was gathered in the investigation that followed the car bomb attempt on May 1.

“We can confirm that search warrants have been executed in several locations in the Northeast in connection with the investigation into the attempted Times Square bombing,” said the statement, released by the office of Warren Bamford, the special agent in charge of the F.B.I.’s Boston office.

A number of people who were encountered by the agents as they executed the warrants were taken into custody for immigration violations, the statement said.

8. FBI Raids Mass., NY Homes in Times Sq. Probe
CBS/AP) Four people were detained in FBI raids across Massachusetts and New York in connection with the failed Times Square bombing, officials told CBS News.

Authorities searched a Massachusetts home and gas station, detaining two men on immigration violations, FBI spokesperson Gail Marcinkiewicz said, though she would not say whether they were directly involved in the plot.

"The searches are a product of evidence that has been gathered in the investigation subsequent to the Times Square bombing investigation," said Marcinkiewicz.

Marcinkiewicz added that there is "no known immediate threat to the public or any active plot against the United States."

Two more people were detained in Long Island, NY. A source told CBS station WCBS that two raids were conducted in the towns of Shirley and Centerreach in Suffolk County. One person was taken into custody at each locations.
