NOAA opens some fishing areas in gulf

U.S. regulators reopened nearly 350 square miles of fishing areas near Panama City, Fla., leaving more than 30 percent of the Gulf of Mexico closed.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced it removed 339 square miles from fishing areas closed because of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

There are 78,264 square miles, or 32 percent of U.S. federal waters, closed to fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
