Sharron Angle wins; Harry Reid gets race he wanted
Source: Las Vegas Sun

Sharron Angle, a former Reno assemblywoman and Tea Party favorite, emerged from Tuesday’s Republican primary, lifted to a landslide by a solid base of conservative supporters but carrying political baggage that experts say gives the embattled Reid a new lease on political life.

Known as a staunch conservative, Angle now faces the challenge of appealing to the broader electorate, a task made difficult by her rigid ideology — she supports phasing out Social Security and dismantling the Education Department.

Well Chicken Lady is history. Good news for Reid, let's see if he can win against this crackpot.

1. He's still got a battle in front of him
That's what happens when you pretend to be a leader and act like anything but. I just hate that he can win his seat back by simply watching his opponent self-destruct. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how much this teabagger slips past her handler-ballgag. Should be interesting, if nothing else.

3. They're polling about even right now.
And if you concede adjustment for Rasmussen's bias, Reid is slightly ahead.

Angle is a vampire who will burst into flames in the daylight.

7. Look at the RCP average.
And then decide for yourself how much, if any, Rasmussen bias is throwing it off.

12. I think allot of people here underestimate the Tea Party
They're a factor this year and a positive factor for Republicans. I'm not so sure about 2012. I have a feeling that they may tear the Pubs apart but this year they are important.

Harry Reid is in trouble.

20. well, I'm in nevada
and I'm voting for Reid. Attempted to vote for someone different in the primary, and both looked like teaparty loons on the democratic ticket. In my best interest, I'll vote against this teabagger. I mean, what the fek, wants to phase out social security, dismantle education system?

I'm reaching social security years and my mother, in-laws, aunts could not survive without medicare and social security. I'll vote to keep her out.

6. yes, apparently Angle got outside money
and support from the Tea Party Express, or should I say teabagger express-known as the repuke machine. This woman is so far right it's scary. She wants to phase out social security and do away with the educational system (at least that's what their saying on TV). Another deregulation, anti-intelligent, pro-corporate nut job, in my book. We'll see how many ignorant Nevadans vote against their best interest.

I wonder if she's a talibornagain type of person, and thinks the churches should educate the students or that schools should be privatized and Mcdonald's should educate the kids? It's going to be interesting.

8. and any seniors or those who are reaching social security age
are fools if they vote for this woman. Why would anyone vote against their best interest? Maybe some should read why social security was enacted in the first place. And SSA is just fine as long as politicians keep their grubby hands off of it.

15. I totally agree!
It seems that an African American president really did bring out the paranoia and racism in some otherwise fine "murikans". These people probably actually thought that they were normal everyday not-racist run-of-the-mill people too! That is, until they were told by crazy Beck that they are "losing their country". I say, "Ha ha!"

14. People like that figure they'll get theirs; by the time SS change is enacted, if ever,
it won't take anything from their benefits, if they are still around. It will only affect others' benefits.

So they are as selfish as you imagine.

21. It's ma'am to you
and I live in Nevada. And, I stated "some ignorant" Nevadans. After all, a majority voted for Gibbons, even after the assault scandal, business scandal. If you think I'm sitting this one out so a real "nutbagger" can get in, think again. I don't care for Reid, but there was no progressive running in this race. I am not going to "cut off my nose to spite my face" in this election. So, sit this one out, if you must.

22. I defend Nevada against many slurs,
but when it comes to ignorance about voting in bad politicians I can't say much either - Gibbons, check; Ensign, check. I'm not a Reid fangirl, but given the choice, I'll hold my nose and do the deed.

23. Sen. Reid aught be careful about what he wishes for....
he might just get it rammed down his throat. As poorly as Reid is polling IN Las Vegas, they're not going to be able to off-set the distaste the rest of the state feels for him in this election. I fear that Reid is going to be the most prominent loss in what could be a very bad election cycle for us in November. :scared:

24. I will definitely be casting my vote for Reid in november
Harry Reid isn't great but watching Sharron Angle get elected would be an absolute nightmare.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the majority of Nevada voters will recognize the extremist right-wing craziness of Sharron Angle and make the decision to re-elect Reid.
