Annan concerned about governments using "terrorism" excuse

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan is concerned that governments around the world are using the threat of terrorism as an excuse to erode human rights.

"We are concerned that under the guise of terrorism all around the world, governments are using the 'T' word - they attack people with the 'T' word and abuse their rights, lock them up jail, deal with political opposition. And we are seeing an erosion of respect for human rights, which is of concern to all of us," said Mr Annan.

3. The current administration either does not care

about his remarks, or they do not think it applies to them. Yet I think we are the ones that started this trend with the USA Patriot act and our prison in Cuba. The rest of the world is following suit.
