Rahm Emanuel says Report He's Quitting is "B.S."
Source: CBS

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel today dismissed a report from a British newspaper claiming he will soon leave his job after growing tired of President Obama's "idealism."

Citing unnamed "Washington insiders," the London Telegraph reported that Emanuel is expected to quit within six to eight months.

3. Of course it is.
I knew it was BS the second it was reported. I mean, wasn't it only a few months ago we were heading down this exact same path with the exact same results - you know, premature exclamation?

12. Take heart
Rahm says reports he's leaving because he's tired of "Obama's idealism" aren't true. Personally, I've never thought of Obama as an idealist and maybe Rahm is leaving but for other reasons. Not that his staying or going will make a lot of difference as he'd probably be replaced with clone.

So the thread that got a hundred rec's is a baseless lie, complete with
more "unnamed sources" and all? Make up a lie, consume 2 or 3 news cycles, make the WH confirm or deny, and move on to the next lie. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

26. Why are you snarking at me? You're the one who got punked.
I blame the internet. These days of instant media can create lots of issues, some real & some imagined. This latest rumor could've been started by some fat nasty ass middle aged man, sitting in his Momma's basement, unwashed, unshaven, licking pizza sauce off his peekaboo bathrobe, covered in cat hairs, and smelling like the East river. But sources? 'We don't need no steenking sources.'

Hey, if you don't have a real story, just make shit up, and someone will fall for it. What's shocking to me is that "seemingly" intelligent people keep falling for this crap, at least that's what "my sources tell me".

22. My comment was less about Rahm, and more about the media's willingness...
to report lies & innuendo as fact, to keep this WH swatting at rumors and blatant falsehoods. I really could care less whether RE stays or goes, but I wish DU could view reports with "anonymous sources" with a modicum of skepticism. I'm just surprised it wasn't Politico this time.

But like I say, the recs were given because people want to believe their wishes will come true.

28. It wouldn't be even remotely unusual
For the Chief of staff to leave after the midterms. The President's focus becomes reelection, not pushing legislation through the congress.

33. I'm sure he won't be there much longer, but not for that reason.
White House Chiefs of Staff tend not to last more than a couple of years. The stress of the job coupled with the strain on his family life makes it unlikely he will be there through the end of Obama's first term.

32. It it "B.S." that he will leave his job over President Obama's "idealism".
As far as whether he will leave his job over http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0621/report-obama-chief-staff-emanuel-quit-midterms/">trading favors with Rod Blagojevich, however, that might be a different story.

He's definitely leaving. This was a major leak by some of Rahm's many enemies. The only friends he has are corporate lobbyists.
