Latin American nations bid to join Mexico in opposing Arizona immigration law
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS • July 20, 2010

PHOENIX (AP) — Seven other Latin American countries want to join Mexico in supporting a lawsuit challenging Arizona's immigration enforcement law.

Bolivia, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Peru filed separate, nearly identical motions to join Mexico's legal brief supporting the lawsuit filed by U.S. civil rights and other advocacy groups.

A federal judge formally accepted Mexico's filing July 1 but did not immediately rule on the latest motions filed late last week.

Mexico says the law would lead to racial profiling and hinder trade, tourism and the fight against drug trafficking.

2. Good for them,
but they should also sue Mexico for it's immigration policies, which are far more restrictive than Arizona's.

3. "Race War in Arizona"
Edited on Tue Jul-20-10 12:41 PM by ProudDad
By Rodolfo F. Acuña

On August 20, 1914 the Los Angeles Times ran an article titled “Race War in Arizona; Death List Is Sixteen” at Ray, Arizona. Two days later Regeneración echoed the Times, “Guerra de razas en Arizona.” The Times reported that four white men and twelve Mexicans were killed in a bloody riot precipitated by a posse hunting “horse thieves,” a euphemism for Mexicans. According to the Times,

Infuriated at the news of the death posse members, white residents of Ray invaded the Mexican section of town, driving the terror-stricken men, women and children of the section from their homes.

One American and seven Mexicans were killed when a number of the Mexican residents resisted the attack upon their homes. The others fled to the hills.

Reports said that many Americans were searching the hills near Ray tonight; bent upon killing every Mexican they meet.

Officers and citizens have been sworn in as deputies, were sent to patrol the entire section to prevent a spread of the race rioting, if possible.

Regeneración concluded that “The American working class is a mentally retarded class,” not knowing its interests as workers.

Nothing new about the race war in Arizona -- and the beat goes on led by neo-nazis like Russell Pearce, Vic Williams and Frank Antenori and brainless clones like Jan Brewer...

Thanks for proving their point...

"racism and nationalism almost always trump class solidarity"

Only because people (like you?) let it...

6. You don't have a point
Illegals are pawns in corporate America's war against the working class.

Need benefits? A living wage? We'll find someone we can exploit who doesn't need all that fluff. We have yachts to finance, for crying out loud.

10. Then "illegals" ARE working class
The solution is for ALL working class people to realize who and what is oppressing them...

The Dominator Hierarchy and its handmaiden Capitalism...

We don' need no stinkin' capitalism: http://steadystate.org/

7. personal attacks aren\'t necessary, read some history
i suggest studying WWI might help you some. if you think that class solidarity has been a stronger force than nationalism and racism in the course of human events, you are terribly ill informed.

11. I suggest you read what I post more carefully
I know that the dominator hierarchy and its tools have been historically stronger than "class solidarity".

I'm suggesting that we secede from the paradigm and part of that secession would require BUILDING "class solidarity" to survive the damage done by our oppressors...

And that dumping on "illegals" is a stupid waste of time...

9. Interesting that Neo Nazis are forging alliances with US middle class, workers and even business
many will see more danger in a Mexican worker than in a Neo Nazi ideology.
Looks like many people forgot why the US fought WWII

12. Get over yourself...
:)

"Regeneración concluded that “The American working class is a mentally retarded class,” not knowing its interests as workers."

They are retarded in terms of class consciousness not "mentally retarded"...

Come on, that's comprehension 101! :eyes:

13. Actually, they're very smart in their opposal to illegal immigration...
The American working class, that is. The illegal immigrants are not interested in worker solidarity or unions. They want jobs and are willing to work the cheapest. They are a tool of corporations. If any of these nations had near as large an illegal immigrant problem as we do, they'd be dealing with it much, much harsher. At least, if they're the socialist paradises they claim to be and value worker's rights. Just look at how harsh Europe is with illegal immigration. There's a reason we are very lax. It's good for business and bad for the worker. No, I'd say Regeneracion is fucking retarded.
