Two Afghans killed, 10 missing, in Taliban raid

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, March 28 (Reuters) - Taliban fighters raided an Afghan army post in a volatile central province on Sunday, killing at least two soldiers, an official in the area said. Ten soldiers were missing, he said.

In a separate incident, a suicide bomber trying to attack an military base in a southeastern town was killed when his bomb exploded early while six people were wounded in another attack in the town, a military commander said.

A spokesman for the ousted Taliban said 11 government soldiers were killed in the pre-dawn attack in Deh Rawud district of central Uruzgan province.

"Our Taliban brothers killed 11 soldiers," Abdul Hakim Latifi, a spokesman for the Taliban, said by satellite phone from an undisclosed location.
