Liberals Take on Conservatives on Talk Radio

The gloves are coming off on talk radio. Comedian-provocateur Al Franken anchors Wednesday's launch of a new liberal radio network -- Air America -- that promises irreverent voices from the opposite end of the political spectrum to conservatives like Rush Limbaugh who dominate talk radio.

"We're going to listen to (Limbaugh's) show and hold him up to scorn and ridicule," Franken said in a telephone interview.

The debut is auspiciously timed: the presidential candidates have come out swinging and liberal anger at Republican President Bush is at a fever pitch.

Network chief executive Mark Walsh said the goal was to skewer "pomposity" in high places regardless of political affiliation. "We're not in regime change radio," he said.

Yes, I'm a sleepy dope with far too much on my plate but that's no excuse. I think their website is in need of clarity. I don't have much time to read an entire website. I saw your link and what did or you say to yourself? 'OK great, I want to listen, what station, what webcast and when?' Those answers should be on the top of their website. I don't see any direct link to the webcast stream?

Air America Radio will debut its programming on radio stations WLIB (AM 1190am) in New York, WNTD (AM 950) in Chicago and KBLA (AM 1580) in Los Angeles and a station in San Francisco to be named before launch.

.....two weeks ago they had a notice on the front page of their website saying....."Look out for our new website that will be launched the week of March 15."

O.K. The week of March 15 came around and.....nuthin'.
Then the week of the 22nd came around and again.....nuthin'.

So yeah, I hope they get their act together soon, especially seeing as they launch their network in three days time.

.. to ask if the website was going to have any information on stations and webcasts. The phone was answered by an extremely rude woman who sounded annoyed at me for bothering her, cut me off in mid - question to growl "yes", then hung up while I was trying to ask a follow up question.

Please, not now. We don't need more Alan Colmes "liberalism." We need pro-Democratic radio; I don't see Limbaugh and Hannity "skewering" many Republicans..... (unless it's about free speech, which might affect their own sorry necks)..

Now you know why Mike Malloy is not on this network....

I hope the don't screw up Randi Rhodes...she is definitely for regime change....

because their content often offends folks (in Limbaugh's case - always offends)... rush is... pompous, loud, rude, hypocritical, slanderous, obnoxious, etc, etc.

Funny that with the most visible loud charicter that fits your description - you instead pin all of those terms on liberals in general. Go figure.

There won't be as much stammering,yammering and indifference to fact as you get on Rush. Not nearly as much personally hateful invective as Hannity and North, nor as much demented narcissistic raving as Savage. Liberals actually have a logical and reasonable platform so they don't have to engage in the spittle soaked madness of right wing radio. But if it takes a little froth and animosity to make liberal talk radio go, then you can rest assured we can find plenty of big fat conservative targets to skewer.

5 minutes of listening to any of the republican shills is evidence enough.

- Liberals will go out of their way to support this effort. We'll donate money if we have to...just to have a balance to the fascist RWing talking heads.
