Centcom: Marine Killed in Action (Iraq)
CAMP MEK, Iraq - One Marine assigned to the 1st Marine Division was killed as a result of enemy action in the Al Anbar Province on March 26.

I MEF force protection measures preclude the release of any information that could aid enemy personnel in assessing the effectiveness or lack thereof with regard to their tactics, techniques and procedures.

4. There is some need for discretion in reporting by the military
But I wonder if this will be the new norm - next to no details about casualties. While there may be some justification for this, it also could easily be a general rationale for covering up incompetence by command, atrocities on either side, or just the general conduct of the war. In a democracy, this should not be acceptable.
