Police looking into damage to senator's (Franken) home
Source: CNN

(CNN) – A window in Sen. Al Franken's Minneapolis residence was damaged by what could have been a pellet or BB fired from a gun, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

Sgt. Bill Palmer of the Minneapolis Police Department told CNN that members of the Franken family recently reported finding a hole in a window of their Minneapolis condominium that appeared to be made by either a BB gun or small rock.

The hole damaged a double-paned window, but did not penetrate the second pane, Palmer also said.

The object in question was not found and it remains unclear exactly when the damage occurred. Palmer said that it is unlikely the possible BB shot was directed at the Minnesota Democrat.

"I find it unlikely people actually even know where the senator lives," Palmer said.

1. They don't know where he lives??
Bullshit!

Why even bother to report the story if the police really believe this was random??

4. Why report? You kidding?
'Sexy'

Condo? In 'large' building? How would particular window be identified? So 'they' may very well not know where he lives.

2. Thanks to Google they have provided all the data. Several
weeks ago in Wisconsin, Congressman Kagan had to call the police because two people walked onto his property and stated snapping photos.

5. Pfft
I have several holes in my back windows from BB Guns and such. Just a hazard of living near woods and kids being kids.

Pisses me off...but it is not a big deal.

Happens to everyone...maybe the perp is simply someone that does not like Stuart Smalley (or whatever his name was)

27. Franken lives in Minneapolis no where near any woods
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 10:04 PM by dflprincess
I see you live in D.C., trust me when I tell you Minneapolis hasn't been "in the woods" for a long time - but it doesn have many parks.

It could have been kids being kids, but doubtful in that neighborhood and it is illegal to fire even a BB gun in the city.

As far as people not knowing where he lives, Franken has held several news conferences in front of the building - especially during the recount and it wouldn't be real hard for someone familiar with the city to make a pretty good guess where his condo is and, thanks to the local media,a good idea of which window is his.

Last year the homes of several elected officials were vandalized, including Amy Klobuchar's and Norm Coleman's homes (all in one night). It's just silly for the police to say no one knows where Franken lives elected officials addresses are not a secret.

8. That's what I was thinking.
If this was a rethug's window it would be a "potential 50 caliber sniper rifle hole"

11. Shot fired at Al Franken's condo
Source: politico via Zepps News

Minneapolis and Capitol Hill police are investigating a shot that was
fired at the condo of Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.).

Nobody was home at the time of the incident, which was not reported
until after the senator and his wife returned home to Minneapolis after
a two-day trip out of town on Tuesday and discovered the damage to their
window facing the street. Franken's wife reported the incident to police.

"Right now it's under investigation by the Minneapolis Police and the
Capitol Hill Police," Franken spokesman Marc Kimball told POLITICO.
Kimball said that "there was some damage to one of the window panes" in
a double-paned window.

Reminds me, a bit, of my brother's experience in Wisconsin. He has a cabin on 100 acres "out in the country" He dared to post "No Hunting" signs on the property to protect his dogs and family when they went out there on the weekends. Some local yahoo shot up the sign and the large floor to ceiling glass walls in his A-frame, luckily while the family was not there. Local police never did find out who did it.

12. Franken's become a real lightning rod
And he's only been in the Senate for little over a year, thanks to the stalling tactics of Coleman and Pawlenty.

14. Hey folks the republican way...If you get caught cheating in
and election and the Democrat who really beat you , beats you, the next best thing is to take Sarah Palin's advice and get the Democrat in your crosshairs.....er by the way is the secret service going to check into this, or will it go the way of the attempted attack by blowing up his house of a Virginia Democratic representative. I mean after all the secret service messed their pants responding to a window cracked by a bullet. this was in an office that no one knew handled the PR of Cantor, no one but Cantor and the PR office that is. But that didn't stop the gung ho secret service agents UNTIL THEY FOUND IT WAS FROM A SPENT BULLET PROBABLY FROM A HUNTER.

16. Lets see how the attention and coverage compares
Seriously, why the hell are we so bad at even getting the media to report the truth? The GOP can get it spinning and spurting out bullshit based on lies but we can't even get honest journalism?

17. Earlier report said Franken wasn't likely to be the target, because nobody knows where he lives.

Which is why my prime suspect is someone who is batshit-crazy, evil, and knows him personally.

For example...

18. I used to live in rural Michigan. Every sign along most ever road was full of buck shot dents.
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 02:38 PM by county worker
I lived next to a corn field and I did not dare go out during pheasant season. Our aluminum siding had buck shot dents in it on the corn field side. During deer season some farmers painted the name of the animal on the side of the animal. Cows had COW painted on them.

The first day of deer season in Michigan is crazy. People get shot by their hunting partner a lot. I even read where one hunter was shot out of a tree by another hunter.

Some people just have to shoot something some times.

If I were in Franken's shoes I would avoid small planes completely. No matter who else is riding with me.

24. No can do. He's from Minnesota.
Land of 10,000 Lakes (and 50 roads) and all that.

Like Alaska, they use small planes quite a bit.

Maybe he can employ doubles, like FDR and Churchill in WW2.

26. Watch out, Al. I was worried when you had your anniversary fundraiser at your home and gave out
the address to your supporters.

I just used a free search engine to look up Al's address and it seems to be correct, if memory serves.
