Area police officers and Oakland County sheriff's deputies arrested 15 people Wednesday night in connection with allegations that two medical marijuana facilities were violating medical marijuana laws.

Officers raided Clinical Relief on Hilton Street in Ferndale and Everybody's Café on Airport Road in Waterford Township, police said. In addition, private residences in Oakland and Macomb counties were raided, police said.

Items seized during the raids included records, police said. A press conference detailing the raids will be held this afternoon.

"They had patients on the ground. There were cancer patients on the ground, senior citizens on the ground and staff on the ground. They raided all of our partners' homes while their kids were home. They were taking their TVs like we were drug dealers," Richmond said.

The Oakland County Sheriff is Michael Bouchard, a RW asshole who just had his ass handed back to him in the recent GOP primary for governor.

3. Nothing like the failed, corrupt, murderous U.S. 'war on drugs" to defend itself against
cancer patients, the elderly and children. Such brave warriors of, by and for the war profiteers!

4. Alemeda County has long had a rep for it's facist law enforcement. Ed Meece came out of there I
think.

And they were the people trying to sell the public on their theory that Judi Berry of Redwood Summer bombed herself.

7. Different Oakland. This is Oakland, MI - a suburb of Detroit
Out here in Oakland, CA - everyone's in favor of the Med Marijuana industry, including Mayor Ron Dellums.

9. Oh, it's the new MI law.
And the sheriff say "Kill it before it grow."

They can use their cards here in MT and we can use ours there, in MI except if that lawless SOB keeps his sheriff job.

Bouchard defends medical pot arrests, likens businesses to 'organized crime'
Mike Martindale and Jennifer Chambers / The Detroit News

Fifteen people arrested on suspicion of violating Michigan's Medical Marijuana Act will be charged Friday for involvement in businesses the Oakland County sheriff likened to "organized crime" rather than compassionate care for the chronically ill.

Law enforcement officials with Oakland County's Narcotic Enforcement Team discussed details of raids they conducted at Clinical Relief on Hilton Street in Ferndale and Everybody's Cafe on Airport Road in Waterford Township. In addition, private residences in Oakland and Macomb counties were raided, police said.

Undercover officers alleged various violations of the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act at both establishments, including the open sale of marijuana to persons not possessing state-issued ID cards for medical marijuana use; sales among individuals inside the businesses; and large quantities of marijuana plants and harvested marijuana that had a street value of $750,000.

11. I think I've found the reason for these raids.
Balancing the budget of the Oakland County Sheriff.

Allen Park is a downriver suburb of Detroit. It's in Wayne, not Oakland, County. And the financial pinch is on throughout the state.

ALLEN PARK: Five police cruisers being bought with drug-forfeiture money
Published: Thursday, August 26, 2010
By Angie Favot

ALLEN PARK — Five 2011 Ford Crown Victorias are being added to the Police Department’s fleet.

The City Council unanimously approved the purchase Tuesday. The cruisers will be purchased with drug-forfeiture funds.

Dean Tamsen, the city’s public safety director, said he requested approval for the upgrades because the current cars have a lot of miles on them. He said replacing the cars will reduce the cost of maintenance.

Tamsen said the department updates its fleet every year, but it has been 14 months since the last new purchase.

The 2011 police cars will cost $21,542 each. Tamsen said the purchase is a budgeted item.
