Gingrich to Iowans: GOP to win (in Nov.)
Source: AP

PELLA, Iowa (AP) — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says he's confident voters will give Republicans control of the House this November because of uneasiness about President Barack Obama's ideology and his competence.

Gingrich spoke Thursday during a stop in Pella, where he met with business leaders. He planned three other events in the state.

Gingrich called Obama the most radical president in U.S. history and argued that voters are turning toward Republicans because they disagree with the president's views.

He also cautioned that excessive government spending could plunge the nation into another economic crisis.

9. Count on it.
Usually, Gingrich is found to be so deeply flawed even by his own kind that his Presidential ambitions are cut short at the exploratory phase. This time, he's rewired the Wurlitzer so that a whole lot of the propaganda goes straight through him, and he should be able to shout down all but the most reasonable conservatives (of which there are already practically none). His special brand of hate will be weekly red meat for the television media every week for the next year and a half, and then the primaries will begin with him in the lead.

I'm all for it, because Gingrich is a flat-out sociopath who is ultimately concerned only with himself, which is sure to damage everyone around him. He'll run a dirty, hateful, and thoroughly disgusting campaign which will serve to further discredit his party for the foreseeable future.

We, the reasonable people of America, have an excellent chance of coralling virtually all of the asshole voters out there into one 30% demographic which can't win a majority anywhere. Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin is the ticket sure to achieve that goal, so that's why I'm backing him.

13. Ugh. The idea of listening to his ugly ass rhetoric just makes me shudder.
I do agree with you that he is ultimately a pretty weak candidate though, so I guess it's not all bad. It just boggles my mind that anyone thinks of him as smart, much less as college professor material. Only in GA. Geez.

3. Heard a commercial on the radio today.
Claiming "the government" has "spent" $13 trillion and still no jobs. They want it to seem like Obama has spent that much. Never mind that $5.5 trillion of it was borrowed and spent by bush and not one repug complained when that drove our debt to $11 trillion.

4. I hope not
I remember Branstad when he was in before and he was an idiot! But the economy will make a lot of people not like the incumbents. :(

14. Oh, who's gonna remember what he said two months from now?
Just you bunch of dead-enders lookin' to the past when you should be looking to the future. Gingrich can make these fatuous statements because he knows for a fact none of his cocktail party pals will remind him of them. He has a free lifetime pass to say any silly or stupid thing that falls out of his mouth.

6. Gingrich and Tom DeLay also talked confidently about a "permanent republican majority"
Edited on Thu Sep-09-10 02:06 PM by old mark
in congress, starting in the '90's and lasting....forever.

He was wrong about that, too.

Gingrich is a huge arrogant ego with legs and he believes people want him to be President... mainly because HE wants to be President.

Fucking slimy lying greedy, hateful elitist corporate republicans back in power - disgusting and bad for every poor person, working person, what's left of the middle-class and small business - the republican believe the rich and corporation should have it all and world domination, imperialism and oppression is the only way to go...to ensure power & wealth for the few.

11. excessive government spending
The only reason repubs want back in power is to spend more money on themselves. Americans are stupid to believe anything else. And they are stupid so they will believe it.

12. Right, republicans love big government! You know OUR taxes for big government contracts
Edited on Thu Sep-09-10 02:43 PM by GreenTea
for the corporations and for themselves but republicans always preach small government for the middle-class, workers & small businesses and our social needs.

The republicans ALWAYS increase government spending, deficits & bigger government, Reagan, 120% increase, pappy Bush 48% increase (right after Reagan increase) and idiot son Bush increased the deficit as well as the size of government 92% (and that's not even counting the idiots wars for corporate profit)!

It's a lie republicans have perpetuated telling us. wanting us to believe they want smaller government, as they've been pounding into the American people over & over through the years and people believe the bullshit and the republicans corporate media instills the lie into us.

The only time the republicans scream and want smaller government is when a democrat is in power they don't want to see that money they believes OUR tax dollars belongs to them go to the people and social programs.

So that's when the republicans duplicity and hypocrisy starts whenever the republican are out of power they talk about small government!
