Rules keep Tancredo out of Club 20 debate
Source: Denver Post

Tom Tancredo won't be allowed to participate in Club 20's gubernatorial debate on Saturday because of the group's rules about third-party candidates.
Only Democrat John Hickenlooper and Republican Dan Maes will be on the stage, said Reeves Brown, director of the Western Slope civic group.
He said Club 20 adopted rules about third-party candidates after Libertarian candidates participated in the 2006 debate.

3. This isn't a good thing for the home team
We NEED Tancredo to have an impact on this race. If his numbers drop to the single digits or if he drops out of the race altogether Hickenlooper's chances of winning it drop sharply. I don't think he'd win a two horse race.

4. AP article indicates that the repub (Maes) may not get party financial support.
Colorado Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes is shrugging off the suggestion that a national GOP group won't help finance his campaign anymore and said Wednesday he will continue to fight for votes.

Maes' campaign was reacting to Republican Governors Association Chairman Haley Barbour's remarks strongly hinting that the group was giving up on the Colorado governor's race. Barbour, Mississippi's governor, told reporters at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast that the association had "put some money in Colorado," but said that it was in the "past tense."

Maes' spokesman Nate Strauch said Maes did not expect any help from the RGA and will continue trying to get votes by traveling the state and talking to people.

Former Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo switched parties to enter the race as the candidate for the American Constitution party and he also led Maes in fundraising in August with $200,485 (Maes raised $50,201). Political observers have said Tancredo's entry into the race has hurt Maes' chances but Tancredo's campaign disagrees. "He's not considered a viable candidate," Tancredo's campaign Manager Bay Buchanan said about Maes. "He can't raise money and he can't keep endorsements," she said, adding that Maes' candidacy is falling "like a rock."

Almost makes it sound like Maes is more likely to become irrelevant or drop out than Tancredo. Don't know much about Maes, but can he be as screwed up as Tancredo? :)
