Proposition 23 poll (Climate Change) shows a dead heat among California voters
Source: LA Times

California voters believe global warming is a significant issue and are inclined to trust scientific views on the subject, but they remain closely divided on a November ballot measure that would suspend the state's global warming statute, according to a new Los Angeles Times/University of Southern California poll.

California’s global warming law, passed in 2006, is aimed at slashing greenhouse gas emissions by power plants, factories and vehicles.

The ballot initiative, Proposition 23, would delay implementation of the law until California unemployment drops to 5.5% and stays at that level for a year. Unemployment is now over 12%, and a sustained level at or below 5.5% has rarely been achieved, so environmental advocates argue that the initiative would in effect put the law on indefinite hold.

5. The solution is more green manufacturing jobs in products that do not increase the level of CO2
Photovoltic generation systems, solar thermal, geo thermal, wind power, and wave action are all sources of greenhouse gas free energy. The Obama Administration needs to redirect the 100 Billion dollars a year on Bush's wars into clean renewable energy in this country.

Bush flushed two Trillion dollars down the crapper on useless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. If we had invested two Trillion dollars into clean energy, we would be ahead of everyone else in the world and California would be leading the way. Progressives want to be a world Super Power in clean energy production while the right wingers want to get their power from bullets.

12. We need to NATIONALIZE the oil industry ... we won't get alternative energy until we do!
Edited on Sun Sep-26-10 01:29 AM by defendandprotect
In fact, the Democratic Platform that JFK ran on in 1960 called for the

NATIONALIZING of the oil industry ... !!

And JFK was also ending the oil depletion allowance!

Nothing like having millions pumped into your state by out of state interests trying to ruin the environment for their economic benefit.

10. No, they'd simply move the goal-posts.
And say it has to be under 3% unemployment before it can take affect... you get the picture.

11. Right wing propaganda still works ... GOP changed Global Warming to "climate change" ...
We need to stick with the description we've had since the 1950's which makes

clear that HEATING up the atmosphere is the problem --

HEATING atmosphere creates chaotic weather --

floods/droughts -- increased numbers of hurricanes and intensity -- changes

weather systems -- more tornadoes/clyclones -- earthquakes --

Let's not help out the GOP propagandists -- let's stick with Global Warming!!

:)
