Latham sticks to his guns after intel chief's denial

April 2, 2004 - 10:23AM

Opposition leader Mark Latham today stuck to his guns over the level of intelligence briefing he had been given on Iraq, even though, in a defence department statement, deputy secretary Ron Bonighton has denied saying he was sceptical about the justificationn for war.

Mr Latham, in New Zealand for talks with Helen Clark's Labour government, repeated his demand that Prime Minister John Howard apologise for claiming he had not received intelligence briefings on Iraq.

Mr Latham said important matters concerning Iraq were discussed when he was given a briefing in January from Mr Bonighton.
