Costa Rica denounces alleged Nicaraguan incursion

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – Costa Rican officials are preparing to go before the Organization of American States on Wednesday to seek support in a dispute with Nicaragua over the river dividing the two countries — continuing a lengthy feud between the Central American neighbors.

Costa Rican officials asked for the meeting over allegations that Nicaraguan troops have intruded into Costa Rican territory and that Nicaraguan dredging of the river caused environmental damage. Nicaragua denies both allegations.

Both governments, as they've always had, are using the "conflict" for internal political gain, by inflaming nationalistic attitudes. And of course, the media in both countries is happy to comply.

Costa Rica has local and mayoral elections in December, and Nicaragua has Presidential elections next year, in which Daniel Ortega is likely to be a candidate for the brazillionth time.

1. Where are all the Chavez idolizers regarding this blatant grab
of another country's (a country without an Army, I might add) territory? Or is this concern for territorial integrity of a democratically elected government only for Venezuela?
